See a cool way to get the left alignment straighter without changing millions of classes:
Code: Select all
#content {
padding-left: 30px;
}
h1,h2 {
margin-left: -20px;
}
Thus only the 2 top heading levels reach out to the left, everyhting else is indented 30 px.

I made a new bulb image for the tips box:

"Screw you guys, I'm going home!"
(that was just to quote South Park, felt like it after their great comeback with a (once-again) brillant/hilarious episode
)
Ok, so I made some changes again.
admin wrote:Though, I find a white <h1> heading clearly better than #222.
Well, I still did not change that one. Because jc mentionned a few times it was easier for him to read that way, so I decided to gowith him & whoever designed
www.xyplorer.com
I did fixed the align problems they were (I think) & removed a few borders/background. I did kept a dotted one for h3 though, cause I still like it/feel it's missing if I took it out, but made it slightly less "visible" (#e0e0c0; yeah I stole that somewhere too

)
So, about now?

YEAH!

Looks brilliant.
Almost.
At the bottom of
http://88.191.26.34/XYwiki/index.php/Li ... kin=xyskin
there are still some alignment issues. Especially the <h4> headings should be aligned to the text, not indented.

BTW: in those "Contents" boxes the headings have preceding numbers, e.g.:
Code: Select all
...
5 Find Filters
5.1 Name & Location
5.1.1 Name
5.1.2 Loose Boolean Match vs Exact Match
5.1.3 Suffix Switches
5.1.4 Pattern Options
5.1.5 Inversion
5.1.6 Multi-Pattern
5.1.7 Consistency
5.1.8 Location
5.1.8.1 Multiple Locations
5.1.8.2 Multiple Drives
5.1.8.3 Location Options
Is it possible to have those numbers down in the text body as well? I think it would greatly help orientation within the levels/text structure/hierarchy.

bah, I liked it indented

Should be gone now.

Yes it is, those are actually user preferences. You can turn it on by going to your preferences (link on the top/right), choose Misc and check option "Auto-number headings"

Any chance of thickening and/or darkening the dotted line under H3's?
It's just about invisible on this laptop...I tried via IE DevToolBar making an on-the-fly change to use 2px instead of 1px, which helped some...
Also, could there possibly be some very slight background color in the H3 box? I was looking for one of these headers and they just blended into overall page and were quite hard to spot due to dotted line color, etc.
And...more generally...is there some easy to find link available on wiki back to XY site? If not, I'd suggest using the XY "package box" as such.

I must admit I barely ever use the wiki (if I do, I'm very glad it's there though

)...
I just wanted to report, that the first letter of menu titles on the left (Navigation, XYplorer, Daily use, ...) is missing due to it being so far left it's out of the screen. I'm using Opera 9.02 at the moment.
bye

ok I made it a little more dark, should be more visible but still not "too much", hopefully

hmm.. well the "package box" should now look a bit more like a book, but whatever

Clicking on it brings you to the main page of the wiki, and that's kind of a general rule so I don't intend to change that.
But, from that main page you have links to both this forum & XYplorer's site.

Must be Opera, cause everything here is fine, especially after I fixed it!

Yep, little bug we missed there, thanks!

Given that H1 has a full background box and thus an implied line above/below, and H2 has a solid line above/below, should/could H3 have a matching dotted line above it? To make it more visible AND consistent? Just wondering..and YES, the new dots are more visible! THANKS!

I still believe there should be some link visible/available on
each page in wiki that allows direct link back to XY site...so...maybe a special entry on left sidebar?

Looking good. <h2>s still not aligned on the left properly though
Personal preference, I really don't like all the horizontal lines everywhere. It's fine if there are only a couple of headings on a page, but a page with many of them on looks cluttered.

I agree that it's personal preference, as I find them quite useful to locate and visually isolate the portion/section that I want...I've been looking for a page that has too many but haven't yet found one...
