Another refresh bug:
Item in left pane selected - status bar shows icon and item name.
Tab to right pane - status bar shows icon but no item name (item is selected).
Move selection to another item - name is displayed.
Tab back to left pane - not name.
I thought this had been mentioned but I can't see it.

Works here.
No, I'm having the same problem. With B412, here's how it works for me:
1. Pane 1 - item selected. Status bar shows icon and file name.
2. Switch to Pane 2. An item is already selected upon pane switch. However, the status bar now only shows the icon - there is no file name showing at all. If I move to select a different file, then everything works properly - even if I move back to the original file.
3. Switch to Pane 1 again, and the same issue repeats - icon but no name until I change the file focus.

Ok, got it. It was covered in my configuration because I had been using a statusbar template.

No bugs to report, though I have just installed the beta and started using it only about an hour ago. Personally I do prefer the behavior of the panes when moving the split bar. I agree with the comment above by j_c_halgren that without the dynamic pane changes you aren't sure where you end up until you stop. I also agree that some indicator of which pane is active is necessary.
I did want to say that I think it is a very usable product for a beta version - especially for a first release beta. I am truly impressed Doug. I like it enough that it has already become my daily use file explorer/manager as is.
Thank you.

Hi Jim,
Great, this might be the day to revise the bad review you gave XYplorer in a lifehacker comment.

Seemed like this was the place to put this. As I don't know if it's by design or a quirk. On a fresh start (and I believe I caught it happening on a restore from the tray yesterday) no panes were 'inactive' so neither were colored (my color was left the default color of grey) so neither were greyed out. Only happens on occasion, but I have caught it happening. For me it seems to happen consistently on a fresh startup.

Cannot reproduce on a fresh startup nor otherwise. Find the pattern...

Just tested this.
On a fresh startup (by clicking the XYPlorer icon, from the Run dialog or by using my AutoHotKey launcher (which manages the minimizing to tray)) it will launch at full screen with neither pane selected and both will be white. I can open and close the details, click in the tree, click in the address bar and select locations from the catalog which will navigate to them in one of the panes all without greying out a pane. Only, once I actively click in a pane will the other grey out. The locations are all local hard drive locations (in my testing right now one was my desktop, one was my D:) so they weren't Network locations. I haven't figured out a way to test if minimizing to tray is an issue though since that's managed by my autohotkey script I think that interraction is sketchy at best.
I'm on XP SP3 and IE8.

What's a "fresh startup"? I thought you were talking about fresh installation, but that's never maximized not dual pane.

As in "I've exited out of XY fully, not just minimized it to the tray." No, this isn't a fresh install, this is an existing install. Hence I was saying I don't know if this is how it is supposed to be, or a bug.

I see. Maybe it's related to the classic mode? I've currently no time to test it.

Because I can't get the IP to be as big (and detail as small) as I need to now...I am used to having only two lines of detail showing but now the min I can get is about 5.5...is this due to the space needed for horizontal panes? If so, then when in vertical mode, it should be a different value.
2. Yes, I will probably change the algorithm.
I'm still running into this problem with v8.00.0002, so I hate to say it, but: it still needs attention.
If the max IP size in use conflicts with min horizontal DP reqmt's, then dynamically adjust it to work but when in SP mode, or vertical DP, the max list size needs to really be the
maximum and show as little as one line of a detail list.
This is one of the reasons that I'm still keeping my old SP vers still going as I can't get used to not having the larger IP for preview.

this isn't completelly fixed yet.
in v8.00.002, the IP is reset when the current tab in the inactive pane is refreshed.

This is not generally true, because I see my inactive pane refreshing w/out IP reset. Please, try to narrow it down.

-select 1 or more files in the folder being refreshed.
-switch to the other pane
-wait a bit and the IP and statusbar will point to <curitem> in the inactive pane (not reset

).
i have a felling this bug was already posted before.

Ouch! When was that?
Jim
EDIT: OK - I found it. Wasn't nasty at all. And that was no long after I had purchased the lifetime license, having read about this dual pane feature coming in a future version, and then became a bit disheartened after reading through the Dual Pane Proposal thread that was active at that time. It wasn't very promising and it seemed, well, I'll say not so complimentary to users who favored DP back then. Yeah, I stopped using XYplorer regularly for the time being.
So my positive posts elsewhere since that time haven't registered?
Still Jim!
