Note sure if I'm "doing" this right....
Image

No info is shown in the mixed column...

Additional notes: The first couple times I clicked the orange button I got an XY crash. I then picked "Select Property" from the column header context menu and picked a custom column. Then I did the "Configure Custom Column" again and the crashes went away (not sure if that was the actual reason the crashes went away).

Import note: The "Select Property" items appear to be mixed up! I chose "Modification Date" from the list, but the file path was shown in the column! "Creation Date" yielded the item type...

EDIT: Just got another crash upon clicking the Orange button... Interestingly, I noticed that instead of "Choose Property | Choose Special Property" the pop up list only had "Select Column." (Wrong pop up list??)

No, that's not right. Read the change log again...

Crashes: Yes, I got some too. Fix comes tonight (German time). :)

Yes, that helps!

I'm not sure I understand the difference between the 32 Custom Column "Definitions" and the 5 Custom Columns that appear when I right-click the column header....

If the Mixed column is dependent on CC 2 and 3, then doesn't that render 2 and 3 as unusable for other things? No need to actually answer... I'll rtfm and figure it out

Also: the select property list is no longer assigning the wrong columns... Not sure what was going on before.

Well, have set up my first CCs - indeed, it is adding value to the show. :D

How about more (special) properties?
- Symbolic Link (mklink /D ...) targets: this is the link type I mainly use
- support for audio file types .m4a (ACC, iTunes)

Cheers,

Before you start complaining:

Code: Select all

! Mixed Columns: Did not respect their own filter. Fixed.
! Custom Columns: Reverse sort did not keep data on top. Fixed.
Upload tomorrow...

Please consider adding larger length support per property 27, up to the hour.
Having a bad time reporting on recorded interviews.

Oh goodness what's with all these custom column thing?! I'm confused!! Haven't messed with the beta for a long time now and... this is going to be fun.

On the topic of custom columns, Don, do you think about custom column groupings? For example, if I'm browsing images, perhaps I will use columns {Name, DateM, Size, Dimensions, Custom 1, Custom 2} but if I'm browsing executables -> {Name, DateC, Size, Company, Custom 3}. I can easily toggle between them if needed.

Also what's with all these major features as of late? Look at those beta numbers!!

1) There are Mixed Columns that can be used for this.
2) There will be Soft Columns (working title) in the next beta...
3) Later there will be loadable column layouts (14.00).

Damn, it's more work than I thought. But I'm finally seeing the light:

Note that there are more than 5 different custom columns, and both panes have different sets. The number of custom columns is now unlimited, and you can assign them per tab or globally, or per folder (via FVS).

Note that I will probably throw away "Custom 1 to Custom 5" -- they are not needed anymore.

2 or 3 more days and you get something to play...

I knew that you were gonna make it right from the very start, cool. :D

Though a minor thing, but: will I be able to add the col layouts to existing FVSs?

You go to the folder, (then FVS will do what you told it to do), then you add the columns you need, then you save the FVS (overwriting the old definition). That's it. :)

Well, I will keep them. I think they still can be useful for users who always need the same bunch of custom columns and want to have them quickly available in every situation.
