Yeah, just got it again :(

Code: Select all

Error 10 (0000000A)
Desc	This array is fixed or temporarily locked
Dll	0
Proc	Watch2: 4
  \\Server1\Web\ecopy\companyname\2008\may.pdf
  may.pdf

Source	XYplorer
XY ver	9.10.0012
OS	Windows Vista (Service Pack 2), 64-bit
Date	14/05/2010 15:33:48
It did NOT crash this time though.

@Don, do you want any ini/dat files from me?

OT: The backup only took 2.5 hours (of watching the telly) because of the speed limitations of USB2 since all the data was on a separate partition. I actually changed the size of the partitions *after* I had installed Win7, live in the OS (didn't know it could do that). Although it wouldn't expand the data partition, hence having to copy all the files back out of the backup.

It really depends how organised Don is (very, I'd imagine). I wasn't picking holes in your mention of the weekend - I was really just trying to say that it's the easiest Windows install ever, and right up there/better then the simplest Linux and MacOSX install routines. And did I mention it was quick? :D

Guess it must have been in VMWare Player...

You're absolutely right: clearing the new HD (probably only containing the VirtualBox files), installing Windows 7 and letting Windows 7 shrink its partition and create a new one, would be the best way to handle it.

Again, I do agree that installing Windows 7 itself is a piece of cake. The problem lies more with associated tasks; also, I try to be mindful of Don's expressed displeasure (if not disgust...) at having to spend money and particularly, time and effort on getting Windows 7 running in some form to quash this bug.

I don't like the idea of clearing the new HD: installing my programming IDE there under Win7 was more work than installing Win7 itself...

Sorry: I meant copying the VirtualBox files to either an external or the first HD and later restoring them. My personal experience mirrors yours and lukescammell's: the main time sink isn't installing Windows 7 itself, but rather the installation and configuration of all the other software.

One tip (for however *future* reference :D): most MS installs involving CD's/DVD's can be sped up by creating a folder structure like this:
\VB\CD1
\VB\CD2
etc.
and copying the full contents of the install CD's into these folders. This way, you save on disk changes as well as install time. Not having VB myself, I can't say for sure whether this will work for VB 6.

I don't do "real programming" so I have a fully (windows) portable dev environment - XYplorer being the hub that everything else is found/run from. In fact, I have this all linked to Dropbox, so I can work n stuff at work or from home without having to do anything other than turn the machine on and wait a few minutes fr the files to sync up. Dropbox also gives me a nice 30 day revision backup on files.

Anyway, I could talk geek all day given half a chance - any luck on these errors/crashes Don?

The icon error was due to the icon (either unusal or corrupt format, not sure yet). Not related to the other crashes. And actually should not crash at all, but just do the error.
ADD: got it: the "icon" is a GIF with an .ico extension...

Nothing new on error 10. But I still have some ideas...

I changed a couple of things in v9.10.0015. Do you still get error 10? If yes, please post the error message.

On a drag/drop

Error 10 (0000000A)

Dll 0
Proc action_LogShop

Source XYplorer
XY ver 9.10.0015
OS Windows 7, 64-bit

However -- program did not close after pushing the ok button as it did before

umm -- the fact that the program did not close is the good news.

But now I'm getting the error message on every subsequent action - just push the ok button and the program remains open and the action completes

If I open another instance of xy - the program runs without the error messages popping up

Good enough news for me. I have good idea about the genesis of the bug now (although I cannot reproduce it). The next version should fix it for good. :D

Well, I still have difficulties to understand the error 10 causes. Please post any error 10 message if you are still getting one.
