Re: Icon Overlays don't work properly in XYplorer

Might be a little better in next version, but I still can create a new folder and the icon stays blue...

No, not infinite at all. There are about 20-30 events, and I currently just catch 2 of them. (Before 9.11.0009 I used only 1 event, but that's only one part of the changes I made; the others are too complicated to explain ...grindax wrote:9.11.0009 is definitely an improvement.
I still see some inconsistencies between XY and WE when updating files and creating new files and folders. But we're talking inconsistencies of just a few seconds. The overlays do seem to be ending up in the correct state though, in both XY and WE.
I'll play with this more over the coming days and see how it goes, but I'm happy with the improvements introduced in this build.
Out of curiosity, is there a more generic way to detect the event triggers. Presumably something changed between v0.7.90 and later versions of Dropbox. Is there an infinite/large number of ways they (or other apps) could potentially trigger overlay events thus making this always an exercise in catch-up, or do you think this is fixed now in such a way that any updates should be recognized?
Do you apply this tweak manually or use a program to do so? If it's the same as what I've read about I believe all it does is replace the existing overlay with an empty image. Thus, when XY requests the overlay it gets the same response and displays the same overlay but being an empty image now means it appears to be not showing the overlay at all.grindax wrote:With regards to the .url and .lnk files I did an experiment. I used an operating system tweak to disable shortcut arrows on the icons of shortcuts, thinking this would get rid of the contention between the two conflicting overlays. But no cigar -- now I instead get no overlays at all on those two filetypes
Yes, and they are not that slow in WE, right? It looks like I do something wrong. I have been looking many many times after this but never found the solution...lukescammell wrote:Dropbox 0.7.110, XYplorer 9.11.0011, Vista Business x64 SP2 and I get the same in WE as I do in XY when editing and creating new files - when I have auto refresh on however.
If auto refresh is off, it takes an F5 or something else to trigger a refresh (like a change of directory and back again) to make the icon overlays update.
This is entirely consistent for me. However, I find icon overlays so SLOW (little micro-hangs of a second or two all over the place, horrible) in XY that I now tend to have them turned off.
Yep, confirmed and fixed. That was caused be a recent -- cough -- improvement. Good you noted it.grindax wrote:I'm sad to say, the overlay issue is back in recent builds
Dropbox overlays change to blue when files are edited, but only change to green with a manual refresh. Tested on XP and 7.
