If there is anything you like to mention concerning Highlight Hovered Items speak now or remain silent forever. :cup:

Wow. Thanks for the feature. Now browsing the long complicated "tables" in Details (with dates, tags, labels and comments) is even more comfortable. After enabling "Highlight hovered icons" once I will never come back :appl:

Though I have to mention (and then remain silent) that the feature works perfectly in Details view of List area.
The hover square is drawn almost immediately.

But when switching to List view of List area, it is a little slow. The hover line is behind the cursor. Thumbs view is even slower.

If I compare XYplorer's highlighting to Explorer's behavior:
XYplorer's Details view is smooth and fast, I would say even faster than Windows Explorer (Windows 10). Definitely faster.
But highlighting in XYplorer's List and Thumbs view of list area works two times slower, and is a little distracting.

Maybe some tweak (to limit this feature to the Details view) would be nice.

Tree also works well (but the Catalog and Details View of list area are faster).

I would say that also in case of Alt-TAB switch between XY and the destination the problem shows up (only when HHI enabled). So, essentially this is the previous "loosing focus problem", which now shows up only with HHI.
Yes, the old bug raised its head for a last time.

I see no slowness here. There must be some other factor.

Please check if it is still slow when you turn off these:
Configuration | Information | File Info Tips | Show file info tips
Configuration | Information | File Info Tips | Show Hover Box

Oha, I saw it! There is indeed too much superfluous work done! I see what I can do about that... :maf:

UPDATE: That was a pretty sensational discovery, medder! Interaction with all non-Details views will be much faster in the next version..., not only hover effects but also selection of single items and other things.

Thank you. Now highlighting works well in other views.
Even when the folder contains thousands of files (200+ elements visible).

v20.50.0316 - 2019-11-19 11:46
* Highlight Hovered Items: Now in Details view without Full Row Select the parts that will not select the item when clicked are only shaded and underlined when hovered, not shaded and boxed anymore. Before it was misleading since the white space did not really look white anymore.

Following this logic, white space in the column 'Name' should also be only underlined by mouse-hovering.
That is, shaded and boxed should be only the name of the item, and white space in the column 'Name' should be only underlined.

It honors Configuration | General | Menus, Mouse, Usability | Mouse | Full name column select.

It seems to me that highlighting should not honor this option.
Option concerns selection, i.e. selection occurs even at a click on an empty place of a column "Name".
And just this empty place will be better seen if it is visible with the help of highlighting.

Hmm. I probably don't get it but IMO it's perfect as it is now. It shows the hot area vs the cold area. What else could you wish?

Is there no way to retain the previous look as an option (without enabling fullrow select)? The full outline looked so much better.
The problem with full row select (to get it back) is that you lose the white-space click altogether.

Sorry if it sounds picky, but I wanted this feature for long time and it makes just idling on the file list so much more pleasant.

So many people you know so many opinions you have.
Based on the logic by which I must feel white space - it is better to specify all this white space with highlighting and not take into account the option 'Full name column select'.

I just pointed out the violation of logic. No more.

You made a mockup of "full row underline"... why?

It was just to show the contrast between the partial outline and a more consistent 'full' outline or 'full' underline.
Personally, I'd still much prefer a full outline of the three.
