Re: Drag stops working
Not sure, I'll have to try it the next time this happens -- do you mean by clicking on a column header to sort?admin wrote:When this happens can Manual Sort with the mouse?
Also, there could be something to the reply mentioning network shares. I use XYPlorer on a local machine and another PC that I connect to via Remote Desktop through a VPN. I only recall this problem occurring in the second scenario, and I browse network shares regularly there but never on the local machine.

W7 64-bit & XY 17.50.0222
Drag quit working again. Same sequence of events I've reported before.

Not sure what this means? If a link to something, it goes nowhere.

Re: Drag stops working
Manual Sorting on:
- Left click drag does nothing.
- Right click drag gives context menu in destination and move/copy successful.
Is this the expected behavior? Is this the recommended solution?

Re: Drag stops working
It tells me that the mouse dragging is destroyed at some deeper level. Not anything I could handle within XY. Sorry, but I'm totally chanceless here.

Re: Drag stops working
Don, just to clarify my previous post regarding Manual Sort.
I can left click to drag files around within the folder, but not out of the folder. Make sense? Right click behaves as normal.
Update: Further clarification. I did the Manual Sort thing AFTER restarting XY, not immediately after drag/drop failed. I did not understand you wanted us to try the Manual Sort thing. I will do so next time drag/drop fails. Sorry for confusion.

That's normal when manual sorting is active

Re: Drag stops working
OK, precise observation and description is crucial for issues that I cannot reproduce myself.
However, in this case I have done everything I possibly can do. We have to file this under unsolved mysteries. I have to go on to solvable mysteries.

Re: Drag stops working
I try to be precise. Obviously failing on this thread.
I have never experienced the drag and drop fail except in XY, which is why I added to this thread. 90% of the time I drag and drop it is with XY. Decided to go to Google and damn if this is not a reported issue with Windows 7 64-bit. This is the most discussed recommended fix at failure:
Right-click on a file and hold the mouse button down.
While the the mouse is still pressed hit the Esc key.
Another suggest fix for this condition is to add a DWORD (32-bit) of 1802 with value 0 to the registry entry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\0. 1802 is the key that controls drag and drop (0 = enabled) and is explicitly present in Zones 2 & 3. Zone 0 is My Computer. I have added this registry entry - will see what happens. This is the information from Microsoft:

Cheers.

Re: Drag stops working
If it ever happens to me I can look into it. But I doubt it. Dragging for many years now day and night and it never failed.

Re: Drag stops working
Don, out of curiosity, do you use a wired mouse or a wireless mouse? I found some discussion of possible problems with wireless mice. I use a Logitech M510 wireless with USB Unifying receiver (plugged into USB 2.0 port). I had been using Logitech drivers, but removed them. I experienced the problem with and without the drivers installed.
