iDisableSHChangeNotifyRegister=0
Well I had that tweak set to 1, but changing it to 0 doesn't seem to affect this.
If I create a new item I get the blue syncing icon until I force a reload/refresh of the list. I find it surprising that changing the file turns the icon blue successfully, but like above if I don't refresh the list it won't turn green.

What else can we do to help identify the actual issues behind this and the shortcut overlay problem?
I just could reproduce the bug in win7 Explorer (!) but not in XY. :) As long as I cannot reproduce it: no chance to fix.

Some time back there was a debug build that allowed for trigger events to be captured/displayed. If I remember correctly that was what helped track down the triggered event where the overlay turns blue. Perhaps we could have another debug build to try and catch the trigger that turns the overlay green?
The trigger is not the problem otherwise it would not work here.

I can reproduce the bug with 100% regularity on all of my computers. Whether they're running Windows XP or Windows 7, 32-bit or 64-bit, doesn't matter. Every single time, without fail.

I wonder what could be the difference on your system that you see the bug on 0% of the occassions you try.
We are talking about this, right?
"... when a file that Dropbox is tracking is edited, the overlay changes to the blue "sync'ing" one, but when changes have finished sync'ing, the green tick overlay can only be seen by manually refreshing."

I have a text file and edit in in UltraEdit. 0% errors.

Yes. So just to confirm, in XYplorer's list you see the text file's overlay change from green to blue (as you hit Save in UltraEdit), and then change back to green again on it's own, without you having to refresh the List?
Yes, in XP and Win7.

Strange. I've just ruled out any configuration settings being to blame. I downloaded the portable/non-installation package, launched it, and left all the default settings intact except for the enabling of overlays. Went into the Dropbox folder, edited a file, and same result.

Any other people using Dropbox who can confirm what happens in XYplorer regarding the dynamic updating of overlays between the various states?
Maybe your dropbox version? (I have 0.7.90)
Or your dropbox configuration?

Don try creating a new item and then modifying the existing one.

I see the refreshing problem every time when it comes to creating a new item - it gets the blue overlay but not the green.
If I then modify a previously existing item, its icon turns blue and the new one turns green, but usually the modified item never turns green.

This doesn't fully explain it as I've seen it get out of sync without the creation, but maybe it helps.

On XP SP3, XY v9.11.0004, and Dropbox v0.7.110.

Something strange happened. I could reproduce the bug with creating a new item, BUT: no F5 helped to make the icon green, not even a restart of XY. And it also stays blue in Explorer. And forget about XY: even a newly created item in Explorer stays blue. This starts to look like a dropbox bug...

If it also stays blue in Explorer and on their notification icon, I'd be more inclined to suspect that like me you're having issues connecting to their service...

As I type this it seems to have reconnected though, which has put XY in a more correct state than WE for once. :P

Yes, indeed it was having difficulties with the connection. Now it's good again.

Using 0.7.110.

And I now can get the bug about 1 times out of 4 when I create a new folder. There's a chance to kill it now...
