These apps probably don't have an info panel with controls in the TAB chain. To make this work in XYplorer, I would have to remove all controls on the info panel from the TAB chain (i.e. you could not move between them using TAB anymore). That's not an option I think.srikat wrote:don't know if anyone has mentioned this already.
Pressing tab should ideally switch between the two panes. Isn't it?
It would be so easy and convenient to say copy a file/folder from one pane, press tab and now that I am in the other pane I can simply paste.
Please make this change. This is how xplorer2 and Free commander works.
i just have to reply here: Even if it's not possible to switch between panes it's still usable for a lot of people. I fully understand why Don won't limit the TAB to switch panes. because you also can see it this way:Gandolf wrote:Are you saying that Tab cannot be configured to swap panes?
If so, forget dual pane - it is unusable with any other key. Left hand swaps panes, right hand on navigation keys. Essential.

BTW, i think auto-refresh should always be suspended on the inactive pane when it is hidden (this might reduce cpu usage).
a refresh when enabling dp or switching panes should be enough.
yeah, looks like i utterly failed to convey my thoughts in that sentence.Mesh wrote:I agree with your first sentence here, but vehemently disagree with the second. If the second pane is showing, Auto Refresh needs to be constantly on. It is most certainly *not* good enough to only have it refresh when switching panes. That means that the inactive pane can never ever be trusted, which makes it less than useless.Muroph wrote:BTW, i think auto-refresh should always be suspended on the inactive pane when it is hidden (this might reduce cpu usage).

damn, i need some sleep.![]()
what i wanted to say is:
instead of keeping the inactive pane up-to-date, only (auto-)refresh when it is/becomes visible.
1. should be fixed soonMuroph wrote:the IP and status bar get completely confused when the current tab in the inactive pane is being constantly refreshed (e.g. downloading smth to that folder), even on single pane mode.
previews and properties are pratically unusable in this case.

2. yes. i thought of that. problem: i would not like to see a refresh when showing a pane. i will save these kinds of refinements and optimizations for a later stage.
No, I mean the action. In long lists, a refresh might take several 100 msecs. This should not have to happen when you just show a list.Mesh wrote:I'm not sure what you mean when you say you would not like to see a refresh when showing a pane. I'm sure I'm just not understanding, but don't you want the pane to refresh if it's visible? I thought that was the point of getting the Auto Refresh set up for the inactive pane...admin wrote:Muroph wrote:

Do you mean that that's why the refresh for the second pane is always on, even if it's not displayed? Because without that occurring, if you don't have an initial refresh when the second pane is displayed, then when it first comes up, you can't trust the file list it initially shows.
