Well I'll throw my hat into the ring too...
As I think I may have already mentioned, some sort of side-by-side capability is needed in XY.
One aspect I've thought of is not so much thinking of a dual pane, but "tabs in view". A great feature would be able to view multiple tabs in the right hand window, leaving the tree and everything else where it is. XY would auto split the view to accomodate as many tabs viewed as needed (yes it may get squashed if the user tried to view too many tabs but the flexibility would allow those of us with widescreen monitors to fully use the real estate). This would simply be a right click option on a tab. I don't know if this is any different programatically.
Oh and the "New Window" Firefox function and the test app posted here don't appear to do much for me as I still get two instances in my task manager???
