Thanks for sharing your ideas / screenshots / explanation of workflow regarding catalogs.
Much appreciated!

VB 4?

Regarding the definition of a layout: "all of it". Ken described it best before.

Yes, I can imagine how much work it can be and what edge you're walking on right now. Therefore I appreciate you're recent "ok, I do it" very much.

That dust will settle on the competition left behind, once you race the new steed out of the stable.

Oups. Sounds you have to rewrite every single bit of the graphics/layout core. Yes, sounds like a "darn - why the heck didn't I say NO!" job. But yes, it will pay off, for sure!

If you need any "help/support" just let us know. As for me, I am super excited. :D

May all the patience be with you only. :!:

Cheers,
Filehero

There was a moment... but I'm beyond it. Now it's all downhill and fun. In the end all will be better, faster, smaller. That's what I call a pay off. 8)

Just curious Don, when you're done and the tree and catalog will be separate entities (panels), will you be able to eliminate Command ID "Show Navigation Panel" (#663) since both the tree and catalog currently have their own "Show" commands, #664 Show Catalog and #668 Show Tree? Or maybe not, if the possibility will still exist that we can have the tree and catalog combined as they are now. Thanks,
Ken

The functionality is still good (= Show the list only). But the name could use some attention: Maybe "Show Navigation Panels" (plural)?

I need English help for menu captions.

Address Bar and Toolbar can be side by side or on top of each other, one first or the other.
Tree and Catalog can be side by side or on top of each other, one first or the other.

I want two toggles for each (which give 4 possible states). Something like this:

Code: Select all

Address Bar and Toolbar Vertical
Address Bar First
-
Tree and Catalog Vertical
Catalog First
But, of course, "Address Bar and Toolbar Vertical" is totally misleading. How do you say "on top of each other"?

When it comes to vertical washer/dryer combo's, they are called "stacked" which is also used for other things as well so maybe that word works?

Yeah!

So this would work?

Code: Select all

Address Bar and Toolbar Stacked
Address Bar First
-
Tree and Catalog Stacked
Catalog First
