Confirmed that this does not work (in XP nothing is dropped at all), but these OLE-objects (or how they call it) are something different from the outlook drop.

Drats... then short of writing my own program that replicates Outlook I'm not sure how you can reproduce this.

You could try the Office trial which includes Outlook, but that's now their subscription model and appears to force you into registering and providing a credit card in the hopes you will forget to cancel.

I ran across (via StackOverflow) this site which includes some VB code of accepting dropped attachments from Outlook, but I don't really feel like familiarizing myself with VB right now so I cannot evaluate these.

Additionally, I found an example for doing the same in C# with some explanation of how Outlook differs. After fixing the name truncation bug listed in the comments I got this working and it is correctly creating the dropped items, even in non-Western locales. (Not that this actually means anything.)

Wish there was more I could do to help track this down but I'm out of ideas.
Maybe kouhj can think of something?

Sorry I failed to compile the "Get dropped attachments from Outlook messages" example from HERE due to the undefined IStorage structure in my vmware XP, which only has the VB6 and Office2003 installed.
I can't give it a try now

So, did v12.80.0013 fix it?

I haven't gotten a chance to do more extensive testing but with the couple attempts I've made I believe we have success in v12.80.0013.

Initially it appears this bug is toast! :appl:

So happy to see you guys fixed it!
May I have a chance to be the volunteer tester before the official release?

I assume you tested the last beta version and can confirm that it works alright now. Well, then you are one of the volunteer testers. Everybody here in the club is one. :)

No I haven't tested it because I don't know how to get the beta version.

Oh, it's simply in the BETA Versions for Download thread in the forum. You can see it if you go directly to the "Home" link of the forum at:
http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/index.php

Just click the little arrow thingy next to admin under the Last Post column.

I'm so happy to tell you the test result on V12.80.0013:

1. Outlook message or attachment drag and drop into XY works perfect! I tested binary attachments with .pdf, .zip, .doc, .xls, etc. everything works just fine! Everything means the binary file content and the Chinses filename are handled correctly!

2. Outlook attachment copy and paste into XY works perfect with Chinese filenames!

Thank you all! This is really great!
