I had expected that some people post the solution and a link in their community, so it would just be just two clicks even for total art idiots to get the deal. I still think this should happen. The experiment is not yet over. After 3 weeks I will know what goes.

Maybe summer 2011 I make a similar thing with only 2 options and one of them clearly marked as the correct answer. This will be part 2 of the experiment.

That's why in my Tweet about it ("Save 50% on Lifetime License Pro until 08/15/10 by answering one question at http://bit.ly/cA7lCl promo AD - This can save you $35! ") there was a good hint about the answer embedded in it, if people looked closely.

Maybe if the quiz was about something that a fair nbr of possible users might know the answer to already --or-- be able to find it in a couple of clicks on the XY site (such as about a feature of XY)...

If XY won't Giveaway, Giveaway will XY... I'm keeping an eye on GiveawayOfTheDay waiting to see a possible hit (DaemonTools was being given away there, some time ago!, despite in the early days people laughed and said that would stood still and wait for MSOffice or Norton come into light - MS probably not, but Norton is not a candidate...) (No, I'm not into Symantec!) and try to make a top 3 post in a discreet manner - people WANT offers but hate advertising on offers, go figure...

-any objections, Don...?

On DonationCoder.com, that happened indeed.

On the right-result page there is still:
"Note that this is a limited time offer that will end on Sunday, August 15th 2010!"

The grass quiz or the website generally?
We were looking at the web site and the grass image (not the quiz) - I expected to see a lion's head pop out!

I know it's unconventional and if looking for metaphors I would indeed see the grass as the [file system] jungle and XY as your guide through it. And I like the contrast between the cold digital world and the green chaotic lively stuff. I'm not sure if it's maybe driving away customers. Anyway, I plan to exchange the graphics in autumn, still looking for an idea...

Maybe a mountain climber, like on Mt. Everest? Or a deep-sea diver in those bulky outfits, since they are also exploring? Or astronaut on a space walk? Or...just an old-fashioned map from the 1800's with a covered wagon?

I still think (and I'm not happy about it) the best would be a blond standard girl in an office context looking satisfied in every thinkable aspect.

If it is any consolation I purchased Xyplorer because of the offer - I've been monitoring the project for a few months or so because I was dissatisfied with my current explorer replacement. The grass offer tipped me over the edge. :)
