When right-clicking a file in the Recycle Bin, the "Restore" option is missing from the context menu.

When I do <CTRL-C> and then <CTRL-V>, the file name is very strange. Something like $A8D23EA or so.

Not here. It's automatically renamed to the original name (in Custom Copy and Shell Copy; Win8.1 and Win11).

Please Sir, I'm getting desperate. Using an OS without being able to undo a delete is extremely difficult.
Is there a way you can send us a version which has debug logging so that we can show what is happening?

XYplorer's native Undo works fine. It's just the shell menu that's broken by the Windows update.

As a confirmation note to Mr Bouwhuis's deletion panic, I did find the earlier report he made was legitimate and this was quite a tricky extraction. Due to the $@g27sSYJ file naming which got baked in.

Today, I made a stupid mistake. Had a suppliers assembly in Solidworks, made the sub-assemblies into virtual parts and put them in the main assembly, in a library repository. Then deleted all the parts and subassemblies after closing the main assembly, copied it to the working folder I want to use the assy in and hey presto, I forgot to make the three sub assemblies virtual before closing the thing. So they were gone, buried in the 40 or so bits that really weren't needed. When I highlighted the deleted bits in the recycle bin and copy-pasted them back where they came from, I only got the stupid alphameric names that make no sense, and the same rubbish was waiting in the View Real Location place. So this is becoming more of a nuisance. Not a real issue, yet, as here I just opened the bits with their stupid names and renamed them per the main assembly, then could open them there and all good.

Having done all that, I have just now figured out the real workaround is to just open Windows Explorer and do the restoration, works perfectly. Oh duh me!

1. I tried v28.30.1101, but still no working Recyclebin.
If you want, you can send me a version with extra debug logging so that you can hopefully figure out what is happening.
2. I also tried <CTRL-Z>, and that doesn't work either:

I downloaded v28.30.1200, but the recycle bin is still not working.
Also, <CTRL-Z> still gives me the error messagebox like v28.30.1101.

Undo is only any use if it is the next thing one does, or is happy to undo all the other actions that followed, sort out / remember what they were and go redo the wanted actions as there is no traceability to it. Which is fine, just that the Ctrl Z solution is a great anti-whoops tool, but the value rapidly depletes from there. Starting WE and using their functional Restore is much simpler while this gets sorted.

I finally succeeded in installing the KB5094126 update (had to repair-install the whole system) and now I can see the issue myself.

In the meantime (since a few hours ago) the web is full of it, e.g.:

I uninstalled the Windows update, and IT WORKS AGAIN!!!

And... I lost it again. After restarting, Windows reapplied the update because it is a security update (I don't think you can stop these).
