Gosh, one bug ("s") lead to the other ("r"). Fix comes. :cup:

Hi Don,

are abstract RAF nodes still something you consider to add?

I consider considering it.

:)

Something like (just an poor man's sketch)

Code: Select all

raf:myNode
raf:myNode\myStuff // if abstract node "myNode" is not yet defined, now it is
raf:anotherNodeOfMine\myStuff
myStuff>paper:todos // error, "myStuff" can't be resolved unambiguously
raf:myNode\myStuff>paper:todos // works
raf:anotherNodeOfMine\myStuff>paper:todos // works as well
raf:anotherNodeOfMine\myStuff>C:\Users\${user} // works as well - and shines ;-)

The "raf:"-stuff is specific and unique to the RAF universe. So, no collisions with the real world file system in the upper tree structure (but within the abstract tree, of course. That's an easy part).

That would be my "dream": a completely customizable tree composed of "virtual" paths (my overlayed structure*) offering "mount points" for the "real" paths.

*: there even could be "named RAFs", like Tab sessions.

Maybe later :)

RAF as it currently works is already an abstraction layer. I have to see how the AI crowd can handle it. It might already be too much.

That crowd will turn to the Total Recall pattern anyway.

Sounds good, but what it that? (I just know/love the movie)

PS: Ah, you mean that one: "Windows 11 Recall AI feature will record everything you do on your PC" ... yep, that's sounds like a brilliant innovation. ;)

No doubt, this is game changing and might/will become beneficial to many people. For me, it's too much blackbox and loss of control. And I lost al lot of trust regarding Mirsosoft's efforts (and skills) to assure security.

I stay reluctant, yet interested.

Years ago I promoted XY as "a tool, not a toy". I may have to turn it around when AI does everything and people get bored and look for time-killers: XY, a toy, not a tool!
