What about pressing ENTER?
same result. select the MRIMG and press ENTER and nothing.
It would be helpful to others who try to reproduce an issue if you stated actual version numbers instead of "the latest version."
Macrium Reflect 8.1.7638 on Windows 10 22H2 along with XY 24.90.123 (yesterday) and 24.90.124 this morning.

Macrium Reflect also has an MRBAK file extension with the same context menu options. this extension behaves the same way in FE (works with double-clicks, ENTER, etc.) and doesn't work in XY (no double-click, no ENTER, etc.); however, all the context menu options work as expected (both 32 and 64 ones).

i also tried running XY as Admin and User (i run as user by default) and had the same results.

like i mentioned, i always explore and mount the images and backups via the context menu and don't double-click. i only tried it after reading this thread and seeing similar software that i use and noticed the same results.

Strange, because in v .0100 shortcut to extension .bms didn't load it, but in v .0123 it does.

Would someone be able to come up with a suggestion of a .reg file that would make Macrium Reflect 8's backup image file with extension .mrimg responding to double-clicking in XY and open, and also for its icons to load properly? Though this may not be seen as a direct topic related to XY, in my opinion and with some degree of flexibility it is as it would allow smooth functionality of XY also with that great imaging program.

When I double click a .mrimg file in XY .0121 I get this:

Selecting a .mrimg file and pressing enter works as expected for me.

I assume when you open the registry using this path:
%systemroot%\syswow64\regedit.exe
you will find the .mrimg extension properly registered. Maybe you can post what the key looks like.

Happy to help.

Wouldn't an uninstall/reinstall of Reflect be easier than mucking with the registry? And still accomplish the same thing? Register the extension with the program? All the backup definition files would (could) be saved before the uninstall.

If Reflect can do it right, sure!

As a matter of fact, this doesn't work as has been stated by someone above. MR installer definitely needs a tune up.

But what's interesting, this worked OK on my PC for years until recently. Could have been caused by the installer of their latest update(s).

You mean it worked with v24.90.0110? If yes, does it still work with v24.90.0110?

phred, would you be able to export the MR registry setting handling its file associations and enclose it as an attachment? Importing a working workaround would be the easiest way how to rectify this association problem.

That I do not know, I didn't test MR on it. I just found it non-working in v .0123.

Just now, I temporarily downgraded XY to v .0110 to try to run MR image backup files right-clicking on them. It didn't work, the problem must have occured earlier, most probably with messed up MR installer. They did have an update about a week ago.
