In which sub menu of which context menu? We will find a better place...MrHaugen wrote:Only problem with XYPlorer and drag and drop is that the teracopy copy and move commands is in a sub menu in the context menu, and pretty far down on the list. Is there a way to set Teracopy as the top context menu for file copy and move operation? Possibly as default copy command when left dragging as well?

Don't use it myself, but it seems to be the right-D&D Shell context menu I'd say... but if we're talking about actual item "Shell context menu..." in XY's ctxt menu, then I feel at the bottom is the right place for it. If we're talking about that menu and the items Teracopy adds there, obviously that's nothing XY can control (I would assume)admin wrote:In which sub menu of which context menu? Hmm, I'm confused now. I thought we are talking about the script-based menu items, but okay I was surprised that they are "in a submenu of the context menu". Well, if I used TeraCopy I would probably have 3 Run Script UDCs with CKS for Copy/Cut/Paste.jacky wrote:Don't use it myself, but it seems to be the right-D&D Shell context menu I'd say... but if we're talking about actual item "Shell context menu..." in XY's ctxt menu, then I feel at the bottom is the right place for it. I will once I have Vista.ivan wrote:I would appreciate if we could deviate our attention ever so slightly to determine why XYplorer and the transfer dialogue freeze and why XYplorer isn't functional during transfer of files of large size.

Well, MrHaugen talked about "XYPlorer and drag and drop" hence why i assumed it was right-D&D, because I don't see how script menus could be involved in D&D operations...admin wrote:Hmm, I'm confused now. I'm trying to copy with teracopy with right mose button drag and drop from one tab to another, but it's a pretty hidden option. This is what I mean:admin wrote:In which sub menu of which context menu? There is no alternative that uses teracopy/teramove without going to the second last option "Shell Context Menu" and select TeraCopy or TeraMove from there. This is the same Context menu used in Windows Explorer as well. There should be an alternative to copy/move using Teracopy on TOP of the context menu, as there is in the Shell Context menu.
I also don't understand why XYplorer uses Windows Explorer file moving for normal left mouse button drag and drop copy. As the default all other places are Teracopy..

This puts a rather delicate spin on the situation. On the main site's first page it says twice that XYplorer is Vista-compatible, yet the compatibility seems to break down somewhere along the line when, for example, I try to transfer 5-10GB from my portable HDD to PC's main HDD using XYplorer.admin wrote:I will once I have Vista.
This is reminiscent of that "Vista Capable" suit that's causing quite a stir in the States. It's logical so assume that if it's claimed that a piece of software is Vista-compatible then support should be provided in case this claim is undermined. Don't get me wrong, in all other aspects of OS compatibility XYplorer works fine, but copying files between places is one of the fundamental aspects of file management and making sure that it works 100% should be a top priority.

The issue at hand is quite surprising since I use system functions for the job. So why would they work differently here from there? Research will show...

Perhaps the system functions in Vista are less happy to be used by 3rd party tools. I am, of course, speculating there. However, I sincerely hope that the speed of this research will be accelerated. This hope is largely based on claims that XYplorer is supposed to be as accommodating and similar to WE for newbies as possible. In Vista, I am able to use WE freely while the transfer is happening. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of XYplorer. I hope it won't scare off too many people.admin wrote:The issue at hand is quite surprising since I use system functions for the job. Ever since I started to experience this, I now only have 2 options: a) cheating on XY (:P) by using Windows Explorer to transfer files [regardless if I want to do anything at the same time] b) start the transfer in XYplorer and go "put the kettle on" metaphorically speaking. Understandably, neither of those options are 100% appealing.
