It did fix the scenario when you stay on that tab, but changing the current location or creating another tab during that "clipboard business" freezes up the whole app again.

Indeed! The problem has gone in v22.50.0205. And BTW, good stuff with ESC: exactly what I was thinking about and even wanted to ask, but forgot.
