Hmm. Totally weird behavior with Office again. Haunting.

Given these mysteries I tend to go this way now: Always try the 32-bit preview first, and then fallback to the 64-bit preview (on 64-bit Windows and with Preview64.exe present). No configuration options at all. Just do it. What do you think?

(Nevertheless I will try to reproduce that focus stealing issue and fix it, ofc)

LOL, I can add one to the mysteries of Office: Now my DOCX preview self-destroyed. After trying to preview a new DOCX file all my previously working DOCX previews stopped working, in 32 and in 64 bit. :veryconfused:

OK, it's back. Word was loading in the background and took 4 minutes for it. Should have expected that...

Completely, they don't work any more even after restarting XY?

When I want to *preview* this particular DOCX file the following happens:
WordSucks.png
WordSucks.png (48.34 KiB) Viewed 2254 times
Yes, Word *opens* (takes a while!) and blocks all interaction with XYplorer. Oh, did I already tell you that Office sucks.

On Win10 using Office 365:
Could reproduce that weird scrolling issue with some files. Not fixable.
Could NOT reproduce that focus stealing issue.

Prioritizing 32-bit is the only and IMO good enough answer. Beta is on the way...

Word 2019 x64 (not the full Office suite), Sumatra x32 preview handler.

It works fine atm, switching between two .doc, .pdf files via type stats and filter but it lead to a closing XYplorer (no crash window) the first time I've tried v0907. Can't reproduce it since...

I'd like to test the preview64.exe for the issues discussed previously with the latest beta v20.90.0908, but with the change it prioritizes the 32 bit (in my case (PDF Xchange viewer). When I uncheck pdf in Configuration > Preview Formats under Office files, I get no preview which is understandable. Is there a proper way to check the preview64.exe now that XYplorer is set to prioritize the 32 as the default? Or should I not worry about it?

Oh yes, good point. I'll upload a solution for that in some minutes...

Ok, I used the new tweak Preview64=1 and my only issue now seems to be doc files not scrolled to the top. I could transition from doc file(s) to a pdf though. Strange though, concerning the scroll issue, when the doc is first displayed as I said it's not scrolled to the top, but I also can't scroll it to the top by scrolling up. I have to first scroll down at least one scroll click and then up to get the file displayed at the very top.

1) I assume doing the same preview in File Explorer does not have the scroll problem?
2) When you resize the preview pane, does that maybe correct the scrolling?

When I bring up the files in File Explorer they are scrolled to the top.

Yes, it does. I don't seem to be able to adjust the preview height, but when I adjust the width of the preview the top is immediately displayed. It should be noted that if I decrease the width after increasing it, the top stays visible even when I adjust to a very narrow width.

But, if I leave the preview pane much larger (e.g., nearly 3/4 of the XY's space) and click on a doc file again, it again needs to be scrolled to the top or width adjusted again for me to see the top of the file. This issue and the adjustment required is the same on Floating and Full Screen Preview as well.

Cool, thanks! So I will do that little resizing programmatically tomorrow and see if that does the trick as well.
