Then, "copier" command doesn't do anything other than simply changing XY's config to use external copy handler. Why not move it to F9 (Config)?
Exactly.

And, yes, I'm just now moving some of this to config... :)

Code: Select all

General syntax: Caption|Executable|Switches for copy[|Switches for move]
If Switches for move are defined, then these would be used for moving and the other ones for copying. If Switches for move are NOT defined, then the others would be used in all contexts.

In my opinion that would be nice for FastCopy, which has the move option.
Not bad, I think I will add that option!

I found 2 points that FastCopy worse than Teracopy:
FastCopy doesn't ask before overwriting.
FastCopy has no switch to hide the tray icon.

FastCopy has no switch to hide the tray icon.
/open_window ... Don't store in the task tray.
What you can also do is set up FastCopy's default settings so that no matter the switches, it won't store in the tray. Like so:

Yes FastCopy does not ask but you can set it to not overwrite. However, FastCopy's purpose is to copy without popping up any questions which is why it was made the way it was. I did however request that feature but the author has not been working on it for a year now so... maybe it get implemented one day.

@ Don
Wow! That looks great! Can't wait to play with it more later tonight heh!

Can this smartness be added to the Right Click menu of the Green Tick Icon (For background jobs) in the status bar. It was equivalent until few days back.

It can but does it belong there? The external apps cannot be backgrounded/queued like Custom Copy can.

The most important stuff - it helps saves a toolbar icon

Secondly, 3rd party handlers can be back grounded by options. And as the onus of adding these details in on the user, its their fault if it isn't backgrounded.

Just to have your opinion : had you evaluate Ultracopier (http://ultracopier-fr.first-world.info/) or Supercopier (http://ultracopier-fr.first-world.info/supercopier.html) ?

Yes, I had checked them out indeed, but 1) there was something about their websites and the download size (incredibly BIG) that I did not like at all, and 2) they don't seem to support a command line.

Clean answer :)
Ok, has anyone some argument preferences between fastcopy / terracopy for someone who does not know them yet ?
Comparisons help to make a choice for a good start :)

I think the first question should be whether you actually need an external copy handler at all, XY's Custom Copy is quite powerful by itself.
I installed Teracopy a while ago but only to do some tests and have used it only once or twice since for very large copy jobs, apart from that I'm quite happy with XY's internal functions.
