Thanks, but I have tried this idea already but there are some issues with it. (Too complex/boring to explain now).

Oh yeah.. actually I hadn't realized you could move the picture around before releasng the button & therefore choose which part of the picture will be visible on -StayUp (probably because on my right click I must wait a little bit longer so StrokeIt "give up", or else it's tryng to see a mouse gesture here)
Anyways, in that case yeah it makes more sense obviously.

Agree for the 2 hands, though I don't think it'd be such a problem. But regarding the interference I don't think there should be any, as in my mind I didn't meant you need to hold CTRL when clicking the picture, but only when releasing the button ! As in, you go for a MDBU as usual, but then realize you wanna keep the part visible on screen for a bit: then & only then you hold Ctrl before releasing the button, and because CTRL is held down on MouseUp, we get in -StayUp mode.
Since CTRL wasn't down when clicking on the thumbs, shouldn't be no interference of any kind.

That's good But honestly I'd like it better on the right-click, cause then you can activate it on a picture of your choice, and without having to actually select that file, or even better, without having to affect your current selection ! (just like MDBU) which is really cool, especially when you already have a few files selected, to check one out to decide whether or not to select it, for example.

I would be comfortable with this option...even though it would require two hands, it's not that often used to be an issue to me.

How about middle click??

I'm now thinking about a cool mouseover effect by which clicking zones are displayed on the thumbnail. Clicking a certain subzone will trigger the sticky blow up. This will also make it clear to newbies that there is something interesting to click.
