I agree. Last 24 hours is more useful than last day as you can create a file just before midnight and suddenly the filter doesn't apply.

I can see both sides of this. However, as one who frequently works past midnight, I wouldn't want it to switch at midnight. What might work well would be to have a configurable time -- such as 3:00am for the switch-over time... Maybe a tweak defaulting to midnight...

Today ends at midnight. That's the beauty of midnight.

Anyway, Instant Color Filters are approaching p-e-r-f-e-c-t-i-o-n! IMO one of the best things I invented this year (actually half of it I had implemented already years ago , but then decided to make Color Labels instead (2009-01-17 14:49, then still called "File Tags")), very useful and usable, very XY-ish, killer. :cup:

Totally worthy to become the dreaded version :blackstorm: :blackstorm: :blackstorm: 13.00 :blackstorm: :blackstorm: :blackstorm:

But do you have any thoughts about the linking of it with the existing Color Filters button, and the resulting mismatch in toggled/untoggled state with that button, which is inconsistent with the way similar buttons in XY work, like the Visual Filter / Power Filter combo.
I don't see the slightest problem. I think the button states are totally consistent with the functionality (which is different from Power Filters in exactly this point). The arrow part of a button has no pressed state in Windows. It would look bad.

Adding yet another button just for ICF would be functionally the best but we have to think about screen space as well.

But yeah no kidding. This Instant Color Filters are great!! Can't believe how easy and useful they are! Already it's one of my top used features in the last two days with my usual Spot-On feature. AWESOME!

On a side note, is there an option to adjust the starting day of the week to Sunday? Also, I never noticed that Status as much but, something about "instant color filters..." just bothered me over the expected capitalization of the title "Instant Color Filters..." lol.

Sunday?! Hmm, currently no such crazy option. I'll check what can be done...

capitalization: usually al status bar messages are in lower case (saves space), but here you are right, feature names should be capitalized.

Sweet! And yes, all my work tends to be around the fact that Sunday is the starting point so a lot of times, I can't really use the "Week" tags and such since it does not included files that were worked on Sunday.

Haha yes. Such an awesome feature with a title (ICF) should be capitalized.

Never thought much about it but now that it's mentioned, I seem to recall that wall calandars when I visited Sweden had a different layout than USA style ones...we have Sunday-to-Sat and they had Mon-Sun (I think) for each week...it's been almost 10 yrs since I was there...

yes because they still keep the last sorting of the list and therefore they can be everywhere in a long list not very useful/practical to have an analytical overview or do something to those selected files

maybe xy could open a search list with the color selected items so we can work on the selection.

You know that visual filters support most of the syntax of color filters? So, via Power Filters you can set up something quite easily that comes close to what you want.

Code: Select all

For example, this filter will show only folders created today:
        ageC d: d
And this filter will show only files modified yesterday:
        ageM f: 1d
