Strange. I'm not a new user as well, but I'm almost sure there is no point in jumping without highlighting. Really nice new feature.
And I can imagine a future, when tweaks will be handled similarly.

As always, it depends...
An experienced user does this (at least he should...):
Press F9, click on Jump to Setting...
<Tab> or click in the instant search field, enter what he's searching for, <S-Tab> or click in the view list.
Select the entry (<Space> or Click) if there is more than one and hit <Enter> (click "Ok").
And now the part that makes me different from anybody else...
1.) The entry is already surrounded by a dotted rectangle
2.) You only need to press <Space> to toggle the current checkmark (or "hit" the button, etc.)
If I'm really too blind to see the dotted rectangle (no, I'm not) and came to the setting window
to actually CHANGE a setting, I hit just the simple <Space><Enter> and I'm done. No more
visual feedback required. So what's the problem to ask Don if he allows us (sorry, only me ofc) to
disable the ugly, eye penetrating highlight color?

Please move the highlight discussion to another thread. I will delete is from this thread soon.

Code: Select all
v10.90.0103 - 2012-03-15 11:34
+ Admin Settings: Added a new section [Paths] to Admin.ini, which
can be used to overwrite some otherwise hard-coded data paths.
Currently two keys are supported (here with sample values):
[Paths]
Catalogs=C:\CommonXYCatalogs\
NewItems=\\North\Share\XY\NewItems\
Thought about such a thing just yesterday
But didn't "wish" for other reasons
Now I immediately added the NewItems entry to a "central" path!
Very handy for test-installations of XY - I just copy a prepared Admin.ini into the XY app directory - and have automatically set LIC and NewItems to a central directory!
Very helpful! Thanks for that!

Where the heck is the thumbs-up smiley?

Code: Select all
+ Tweak to add any number of user defined codepages directly to the
INI file. General Format:
NameOfCodePage=Value;NameOfCodePage=Value;...
Here's an example of how the key could be set:
UserCodePages=IBM 437 (DOS-US)=437;IBM 850 (DOS-Latin-1)=850
The dropdown menu on the Preview tab will show the user defined
codepages.
No more scrambled letter due to Italian accents in batch files!

- when the value has leading or trailing spaces
1: Write the value in quotes.
2: Don't write the value in quotes.

This is great, I can now read z/OS XMIT files without having to extract them! And of course those wonderful codepage 437 box characters display the way they were meant to be displayed, as box characters.

Code: Select all

+ Catalog: Now you can drop items onto scripts in the Catalog.
Nice, once step closer to being able to script 'real' functions.

Tags Tab on IP
"noob-pleasing" is understatement. Almost all of those i gave XYplorer to report that it made them use tags for the first time, although i was touting heavily for yonks. So i like to call it at least catalytic

Aaah, finally somebody notes it! Glad to hear it! It was 10 times more work than adding Quick Name Search, and I'm still trying to find out why I didn't add it much earlier.

Way behind in time, but nevertheless: User commands - just tried it the first time.
And btw, it's really fascinating, what a powerful and mighty thing an elaborated SW design can become.

I agree, thanks for that, it is a great new feature.
But a negative new "feature" for me in v11.00 is having to click on the Tips button in dialogs such as Selection Filter and Batch Rename.
