My goal is to have it finished in May (2009! :) ), and at the moment I'm quite optimistic.

Fantastic! Thanks for the update (and thanks for specifying the year! :) ).

Looking forward to it!

Question: When focus-by-TAB-key hits the inactive pane, is it activated then?

A dual pane user would expect tab to switch between panes and do nothing else. Shift-tab in x² switches to the address bar, I can't remember what switches to the tree since I never use it.

I never use the address bar in T.C. (I don't think it has one anyway) since address can be entered directly in the pane header.

So, tab, in my view should only switch panes and other key combination switch to the tree, address etc...

Would be nice if Alt+D would set focus to the address bar as that is how it is in Windows Explorer and also in Firefox.

You can configure this yourself in CKS/Miscellaneous...

Personally, I would not want the Tab key to do anything more than what it does now - flip between the active tree and the active pane and back again. As long as what you are proposing can be reset to this behavior, than I'm happy.

Yes, feels good to me. For toggling the active panes there will be an extra command.

No. But don't worry. I will provide some special service/mode whereby hardcore DP-niks can get their Jurassic Norton Commander experience... :)

As long as it is not a hard coded keyboard map like Norton Commander had.

Why can't you configure the TAB key? I can't see Shift+Tab either in the list of keys - I would use that for the address bar (but then I don't use the address bar, so it's irrelevant!!).

Because you don't allow Ctrl+Shift+left / right to be configured (which puzzles me) I had to use AHK to enable them for moving tabs.
