7z is completely different from zip format.

You many want to try that with docx or xlsx which use the zip container.

Yes, adding new extensions will not add new unpacking skills. But just in case one day MS will buy RAR and 7z and beef up their ZipFolder feature: XY is ready to handle those extensions.

OK thanks, do you have a list of extensions that are zip-like?

I'm working off memory and can't confirm these right now, so they might be wrong.

xpi = Firefox Extension (just to clarify for Marco)
crx = Chrome Extension
jar = Java package
apk = Android Apps
vsix = Visual Studio Extension
sublime-package = Sublime Text Package
chm = Compiled Help
epub = E-Books

The easiest thing to do is look at a file in Raw View and if it starts with 0x504b0304 (PK..) then it is likely a standard Zip file.

Please note: The changes to the registry were determined via trial and error. I have not done the research to know exactly what these changes do or the impact they will have. There could be and likely are negative side-effects related to these changes.

For instance having a type identify as 'CompressedFolder' changes its 'Type' column and impacts how it gets opened/handled by the system. I know even less about the CLSID 'hack' at present.

Please take extreme care with these changes!

I have PowerDesk on only one computer right now. It does not work for me on Windows 7.

I pray that it dies a slow death.

A request for the zip_add() scripting command. Is it possible to add a flag so that the next line after the zip_add() will wait? Currently I have to use the Wait command so that the zip_add() will finish before moving the finished zip archive to somewhere else.

Sure? I thought I had fixed that in v13.10.0101 - 2013-10-15 18:46.

What kind of Zip job is that? Do you have some code to see?

I think there might still be something wrong, though perhaps not related to that fix... :|

Selecting n items, right-click, Zip, Any Zip to... item, often results in m instances of the following dialog:
[Window Title]
Compressed (zipped) Folders Error

[Content]
File not found or no read permission.

[OK]
The resulting archive exists but only contains n-m items.

Also note that this is a rather fresh install of Windows and it does not have any of the registry tampering that I was discussing earlier in this thread.

Let me know what I can do to help narrow this down... :whistle:

Sure can.. it pretty much happens every time for me. Also, just in case you missed it, that Various Info was from a fresh instance.

Indeed! Probably related to a change in v13.10.0101 - 2013-10-15 18:46. Try next version...

I haven't been able to reproduce it with v13.30.0102.
