I personally prefer "." because on swedish keyboard layout you have to
use ALT GR to reach the "@" sign.
But couldn't the alias be a configurable choice for the user. They could
then choose between for example ".", and "@" in order what suits their
local keybord setting best?

Given the variety of keyboard layouts, and user preferences, it seems that ugus/ulrik may have a solution!
A choice between the two "leading" candidates:
. and
@
Even if this was via an INI setting as it's a set once and forget it option.
The only problem would then be...in the Help file..as how would it be documented?

Hummm...?

At first sight not bad but I'm hummmm myself... it also would make user-2-user communication difficult. Also the prefixed items that are stored in MRU lists in the INI would become unusable when you change the prefix setting (no, I'm not planning to auto-update the lists...

).
@ is AltGr in Germany, too, so i'm quite inclined toward the dot!

Well, I think @ is ok and has the "@lias" thing for it (plus it leaves the dot for the next prefix to come

) but either way I'm happy.
BTW, @ is AltGr too for me, but easy to do ( with 0 ) so I don't care. Just like \ ( with 8 ) is too.
Actually, having it set in the INI file could be nice yes. Even if it had no inteface, so eg. default is "@" but one could set it to "." if needed

BTW: Have you tried Ctrl+Alt+Q (Q is the key where @ is in germany). This can be done with the left hand alone. ALT GR is just a shortcut key for CTRL+ALT.

On swedish keyboard Ctrl+Alt+2 make it. I can be done with left hand alone

Ok, thanks.
Whether I will take "@" as prefix for aliases will depend on some risky self-experiments...

I love the idea of these aliases -- this still in the works?

Oh yes!

I'm rare in the Beta Club these days because I'm down in the factory making my hands dirty with source code.

Great answer. Fortunately, it would seem you're not -terribly- rare. Have seen a good deal of you in my short time here :)

, you removed aliases from XY Roadmap? Is it not in the making anymore?? I thought I could forget those number IDs and give them my own aliases?

Forget the roadmap. It is mostly meant for newbies to show them what things do not need to be wished
again.
Aliases are not forgotten.
