I *really* need to be able to drag & drop into Skype from XY but it doesn't work in the newer Skype. I teach online via Skype and need to be able to drag PDFs from XY into Skype for my students. XY organizes access to my plethora of PDFs so well, I don't want to have to use Windows Explorer.

No, no error, just no ack or reaction as if nothing had been dragged. Conversely, with Skype v.6.1.999.130 after opening a conversation window (double-click on someone in the contacts list) I drag a file from XY to the "Send a message" text box in the conversation window and it works fine — the file name, time, and status (e.g., "waiting") appear above the text box along with a "cancel" button (even if neither I nor the contact are online).

Hmm, looks like a Skype bug to me. It's not my business if Skype stops supporting standard drops. I know MS is strange, but this is very strange.

Other open source file managers get it right. Would it be ethical to peek into their code and see how they do it?

Can you refer me to one, please? I have no intention of using anything other than XY but I'd like to test your claim in my own setup.

Having the same problem - D&D to Skype (latest version of XY and Skype) silently does nothing.

In the past, I've had a couple other programs that did not like to drag&drop/copy-paste to/from XYplorer (can't remember which - 7zip maybe?) and couldn't shake off the feeling it was somehow due them being x64 while XY is 32-bits. Completely irrational feeling, I'm sure.

I don't think bitness plays a role here. (Irrational speculation, of course)

Well, Microsoft/Skype finally did me in and won't let me log into my old Skype version — had to update. There are workarounds to send files without D&D from XY, but would be more convenient if that worked. Sigh.

Anyway, keep up the good work. Love my XY.

It also doesn't seem to work with Potplayer. Dragging video file from XYplorer to Potplayer's window doesn't do anything, while doing the same from either Total Commander or Windows Explorer works fine and plays the dragged video.

It's on my list. Actually I know what to do but currently have difficulties in finding the right way. One day I will succeed.
