Conf option to prevent tab duplicates

I would lend my weight to both options (marking the folders open as tabs with an overlay) and also an option to prevent duplicate tabs (of any type).

I'll also vote for this opinion! Especially the marking of folders already open...since the folder for the current tab is marked with a slightly darker grey, maybe mark the other tabs/folders with a lighter shade of grey?
Or allow user to set color in Config, which would be more flexible...

Because there have been a few times that I've been bouncing around in tree and open a new tab/folder because I didn't check that I already had it open...

As far as marking default tab, could the title be in italics? That and/or a special icon would make it very obvious...

Ok. We have 2 hot topics here:
(1) prevent duplicate tabs
(2) default tab

Up to now I'm not 100% convinced of any of the ideas although I see the topics are well worth thinking about.
Currently I'm busy in another corner. So you may cool down a bit, get some sleep, and then return to it in a couple of weeks.
