I was just rewriting my Find scripts file - right-click menu to my Search Templates CTB - when i thought,

Code: Select all

I'm extremely pleased with Quick Name Search and Repeat Last Quick Name Search
so it would be 8) if ...
F3 has been sitting on Find Now for many years... (but I personally hardly ever used it).
Same here

Fresh install bug:
There is no quick name search to repeat.
Yes, there is.

Show All Items in Branch... who needs it since Branch View? I think it can go.

If I press ctrl+alt+f3 on a fresh install I get that message. Of course I made a previous search so something is wrong with the feature. AFAICR there may be a tweak somewhere which should be ON by default factory settings to get the feature working.

Contradictio in adjecto. Either "fresh install" or "I made a previous search".

Confirmd - it works well.

10.90.0412, fresh install: After Ctrl-Alt-F3 one gets the proper message: "There is no QNS to repeat."

neutrox, "fresh install" does not have any knowledge about the past by the very definition (=have just reformulated what Don had already said).

maybe neutrox was doing a name search via the address bar? those are indeed not stored in the QNS MRU. which is a feature.

Ah, I see, that was then the case and I also did not understand what he was trying to say.

no, it's not working on the QNS own GUI...
Borut: "repeat last search" should mean it, be it on a fresh install or not. Kind of refresh me thinks.
Question: are your fresh install sharing regular, common .ini? I mean, you guys did your test using portable version?

Let's try again: When they say "fresh install", that means with nothing else having been done in XY as if you were a brand new user and did that command as the very FIRST thing in XY and in that case, there can NOT be a last search to repeat so thus the msg is correct.
Because when Don said:
Contradictio in adjecto. Either "fresh install" or "I made a previous search".
these two choices are mutually exclusive in that you either have a fresh install -or- you made a previous search...both can not be true at same time...get it now?

Maybe neutrox wanted to say that he had a new install so that no options have been changed.

And maybe he meant fresh install, then search and then repeat?
(I.e. the search and repeat were on a fresh install...)

Maybe? neutrox?

Bad vibes... I still have the problem but
if I close XY (no saving!, I can even delete created folder), run a latest beta, do a QNS - repeat last search (which then runs fine!), then reopen the older version and try the QNS - repeat last search again, everything works as expected. Weird.

Anyway I'll just upgrade and consider the problem solved.
