Also, I do not want to maximize(even though I've used that term) but simply to display the window in the normal state. If there is such a command that you have described then it would be acceptable.
I just tested /win=normal here on XP SP 3 and it does in fact work when you add it to the shortcut's target as well as if you modify the registry keys FeatureCreep posted.
More specifically you'd want to change HKLM\Software\Classes\Drive\shell\XYplorer\Command\(Default)'s value to:
Code: Select all
"Path\To\XYplorer.exe" /win=normal "%1"
And the same for Classes\Directory.
Minimizing XY to the tray, right click > exit, and then using the run dialog (Win+R) to open a path results in XY being started in the normal (not minimized or maximized) state.

Folks, I said I'll do something. Wait for the next version...

Well, don't take out the current behavior. I eventually might want to preload XYplorer and would like for it start minimized. Just maybe add an option for minimize on first load or not(if XYplorer is already running).

Have you seen
http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic. ... 551#p68551
where Don did this:
Code: Select all
v10.80.0105 - 2012-02-01 21:46
+ Configuration | Startup & Exit: Added dropdown "Startup window
state". Allows you to always start with a certain window state, or
with the last window state (factory default).
- Configuration | Startup & Exit: Removed option "Startup
minimized". Has been replaced by dropdown "Startup window state".
So it appears you now have choices...how about that?
Depending on the complexity and how it may apply to other users and to how many, Don is often quite speedy in making changes to address issues here...that's why we LOVE XY and Don!!!

WOW! Amazing!!! Normally adding 2 or 3 lines of code would take months to make it into the next version!!!
Awesome job!

Guess you've not experienced the speed of development of XY before?

The only things that take months here are: items that Don can't easily solve technically -or- doesn't have enough user demand yet -or- which he's not yet in favor of and has to be sold on slowly.
The fastest turnaround (that I recall) I've seen for a bug (not wish) was about 20 min from being reported here to a beta vers...that's quicker than some anti-virus folks respond!
Some ideas to best to say thanks to Don in other ways if you're happy:
1) Buy a lifetime Pro license if you've not done so
2) Convince friends and aquaintances to do same
3) Send Don a 'blurb' that would be appropriate for XY user reviews page
4) Post a positive review on various sites, such as those mentioned in another recent thread
