We've got something white and extremely close to water to walk on but unfortunately it's no beach. :P

I fully realize how little importance this is - I'm didn't mean to make it seem like I felt it was a big deal.
It just looks off to me, and what bothers me most is that I can't figure out exactly why! :?

j_c_hallgren wrote:Just exactly how does a white checkmark on a green circle translate into "background jobs" queue? I don't quite see any connection between the icon and function...what am I missing? :?
When a job is running it shows an animated marquee bar instead, so the checkmark means everything's good.

It's always bothered me that the contrast between the checkmark and green circle is so low; I have a hard time making out the up-tick on the left.

Forget about the tick. It's enough to see it's green and not animated blue stripes. :)

Anyway, I'm off to a cold beach now for some days, and I won't think about circles or rectangles, at least not those from the 16 pixels league.

Bye!

Don: Would it be difficult to keep the blue IP toggle icon at the same location?
I personally got used to F12, but just trying this button for testing sake and its annoying how i have to move my mouse up and down each time to toggle IP.
Just wondering what the limitation was to opt against such method?

Logic?

This button is for noobs to discover the IP. Once discovered they will use F12.

:P Not necessarily just noobs! Also can be used by those who prefer/use touchpads/mice and don't have show/hide TB icons active.

Ah yes, I forgot: The end of the keyboard is nigh.

Since I've never used F12 and 'click status bar' can toggles the IP I'll have to disagree, even with a mouse or touchpad you have a larger target to aim at :P so the icon caption might as well be 'noob aim here >.<' .

I've read this more than once and still am confused as to: what you're trying to say here? what are you disagreeing with? :?

As I've written previously, I have found this new icon quite useful with my touchpad as aiming/hitting the very small status bar line isn't easy, and thus having an icon on IP is more convenient than going up to TB to use option that if my cursor is in/near the IP already...and moving my finger from TP to F12 is least convenient...my point being that while it was added for new users who seemed to keep asking here how to view/hide IP, even some of us veterans can also make good use of it.

I'm saying Don is right, the button is for newbies (for feature discovery).
Also that you'll probably find it easier if you turn on the status bar clicking instead of having to aim precisely at that button.

Edit: Just to be clear, you don't have to click on the status bar 'line' you click on the status bar which is larger than the button (after all it contains it).

That blue button is a status bar button. In order for it to stay in the same place, the entire status bar would have to stay in the same place. You'll notice that when you activate the Info Panel, the status bar moves up to make space for the Info Panel itself, and all the content in its various tabs.
I do understand that IP button is part of status bar and it moves with IP toggle. Part of my question was to inspire Don to invent some new way to keep IP toggle button and possibly BJ button in the right-bottom area irrespective of IP active or not.
Don't ask me how, I am just commenting on what feels more natural as an user. But Don replied that its a feature discovery thing and he won't spend time doing anything else and this I perfectly understand too.

 Duh! Of course! What can I say? Maybe it was too late at nite?

But also since I usually have IP showing, it's something that I do rarely, and when I do, I'm just SO used to clicking on icons that clicking on a bar is not something I think of immediately...thus my finger is attracted to the button because it's an obvious target.

Interesting about the 'mouse' click option on the status bar; didn't know that option existed. However, being the self-appointed King of the Noobs, we find the "F12" to be superior for the following:
  • Always in the same place.
  • Performance from click event is instantaneous over the status bar option.
  • Larger footprint than the blue fairy.
