Thank you Don - I hope it wasn't too difficult. Was going to write a mockup today, after installing and configuring my compiler, which I never got to because I was side-tracked!

I'll get back to my reviews too, soon. Again, real-life...

Don wrote:I added something (next version). Let me know how close I came to your vision.
The one after the 10.50.0005 Beta, right? Because I did see an edit part in today's beta, just not a way to add a path. But so far - yes, exactly. Just put a browse button in the new edit location box (with an add now button in the browse dialog box), and it's exactly what I was thinking (or which ever way you were thinking to add paths to the buffer, which I'm sure will be great)! I'm glad I made sense to someone (you, specifically  ). It fits right in with what I understand about XYplorer's interface, too!

Again, thanks.

You mean a Browse button, and when the browse dialog is OK-ed, the returned path is appended to the current list?

Yes Don, that's exactly how I've seen other programs do it - just like you are describing. Or, you can add an "Add" button to the browse dialog box and "OK" simply dismisses the box once all the needed folders have been added to the buffer.

Also, are you putting something in the main context (right-click) menu to add the currently selected folder to the search-path buffer, or a hot-key combination? Then the buffer can be (if needed) edited once in the search pane - this part is just a suggestion and in no way would detract from the search features you are adding (what we are discussing above, alone, would be great), but I figured it would help keyboard users too.

Anyway and either way, this is great - exactly right, and will save loads of time and effort. Thanks.

Add an "Add" button to the browse dialog box? I don't think I can do that. Have you seen this done anywhere?

To be honest, I couldn't remember whether or not the default dialogs box could be customized! So no Don, I cannot think of a single example - that's probably why the other programs do it the way you are describing (short of writing a browse dialog box duplicate, which would be more time and effort than it's worth).

I used to have a good memory for details; you would think it's been years since I programmed anything, not merely months!

Looks great Don! I will fully test it later (grass day, hopefully the last time this season). As you probably guessed, I am doing my review (partly) on the Find Files feature and when I finish "playing" with the new additions, I will get my review out.

Nice work, and thank you.

I should have said "yard work day," I don't have entire days to devote to grass!

Aah, I had already worked on a new interpretation of your signature ("Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.").

Hilarious! Well, I have mostly moss on my property, but a lot of trees and thus, I am just about to start my leaf weeks. (I refuse to use a leaf blower or any other ridiculously noisy device, plus I bag 'em.) At the moment, though, I can't get started until the snow melts. Plus I've been out of heat and electric for 3 days and staying at a hotel. Yes folks, this is due to the Great U.S. Halloween Nor'Easter of 2011. I think it has something to with there being zero acorns this year -- and I mean zero. Last year, in constrast, I had a special acorn day to deal with.
Running on Windows 10 Pro 64-bit quad-core ASUS G752-VY notebook with 64 GB RAM, over 26 external USB3 drives attached via multiple powered hubs with letters and mount points, totaling 120+ TB.

As most of my (northern) family is in the Virginia, Maryland area, I know some of what you are going through (plus I lived around DC for 20 years - wimpy snow for real northerners I'm told). But, the first winter I lived there (winter of 78 I think - having just moved from Louisiana) it did snow 3 feet in one shot. Even though that was the first time I really saw snow, after shoveling a 150 foot driveway, I never wanted to see snow again.

BTW, my C++ compiler is finally installed - now I just need to do the updates, supporting files and programs, then configure it all (it's never ending, switching computers).

I got lucky here with this Nor'Easter -- no power outage at cottages (but it was out for 9+ hrs at my other house here), no trees down but lots of small limbs and such...in Hurricane Irene, lost power for 52 hrs and landline phone for 36 hrs so haven't escaped all the weather.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

Wow, because here we are having the all-time acorn record this year! You can hardly see the ground anymore. So now you know where your acorns have gone.

I don't know if the problem is just here but with this new feature if you just open the Find Files(with Ctrl+F3 or any other way),if the Location field is empty=>right click on the browse button=>select Edit Location=>Here if the list is empty and you click on the browse button,an error appear
Run-time error '97':

Can not call friend function on object which is not an instance of defining class
And after that xyp crash.
The Autosync option doesn't auto sync the location if the option is already enabled when you start xyp and press Ctrl+F3(or rise the panel and go to Find Files)thus the current location it's not auto added to the Location field and not in the Edit Location dialog

Also isn't the "Selected Locations" also supposed to add the selected locations to the Location field or to the Edit Locations list?
