If you want to "initialize" another app data folder to your current settings, you can simply use menu File / Settings / Backup all Settings and select that folder as the target of the backup.

This was the answer to your question:
0.
WHAT do I have to save into the configuration folder to be able to start with all tabs and views? (I am assuming configuration as...?)
I did that and Saved As... 2 configurations into the folders
C:\Users\jbir\AppData\Roaming\XYplorerConfig1\
C:\Users\jbir\AppData\Roaming\XYplorerConfig2\
So you do
File / Settings / Backup all Settings to XYplorerConfig1
and
File / Settings / Backup all Settings to XYplorerConfig2

and your tabs and stuff will be all there.

this finally seems to work, thanks.

the only thing that is strange is that when starting these 2 shortcuts, i now get 2 separate "icons" on the taskbar. This did not happen before, (used to be normal Win7 taskbar behavior) they were grouped together
