@fishgod: as far as I understood before, ms libraries can also be used from other applications, i.e. for opening a file or such? Then I'm afraid this would not function if XY uses a private technic.
And if the ms-way to handle it is not good - they often made things better after some time. So I think people will want to use it - and it would not be fine if XY wouldn't support it.
Don't get me wrong: I'm no friend of ms

and will be at XP for some time

But if they offer functions to organize data, at least some people will use them - and will have problems with XY if it doesn't support them, too.

I'd like to add my vote for this too, especially support for Homegroup.

ok. i initially preferred the current configuration of xyplorer (without the libraries) but this:
"
There are a couple of pro/cons for this [libraries] though:
PRO: Libraries don't just work in XYplorer (as virtual folders would) but also in the open/save/... dialogs used by all applications that call the Windows API (which is most of them)."
in a nutshell is why their implementation is not simply an option, but for me, a necessity. perhaps it is time to move on.
Edit: except for the fact of course that there does not seem to be an alternative file browser as well configured as xyplorer. Not even directory opus which is three times the price. c'est la vie.

Is there any progress so far with showing W7 Libraries? Or at least similar function in XYplorer's own setup. I have some folders which have similar content but are in different locations and they must be that way (like photos from different cameras and from different users). But I'd like to see all content in one folder for quick inspection and work but still maintaining original folder structure. Just like Libraries is in W7.

This is supported since long as "Multi Location Searches". It only needs a little manual work, and you could use the e.g. Catalog to store those "libraries".
This, for example, will last all contents of the roots of C:\ and D:\ (/n = no recursion):
If you only want to see certain file types, you do like this:
This is obviously much more powerful than the Vista Libraries, but admittedly not as comfortable to use.

Ok, will try to dig into this, it seems to work only with files and not folders. I need to see folders as well because their names and structure are having significant role in this.

Then you should look into
Multi Branch Views.
