Hi Gandolf,

When I remove showing the column for created and modified, TrackerV3 works without any errors. When I turn on showing modified my Windows folder gives the error and that is because of some of the folders have last modified date set to 28977-01-30 05:25.
Turned of modified and turned on show created then both Windows and Program Files work, but when I select a folder below any of Windows and Program files I get the error. When I can set the create and modified date to today on all the subfolders and files in a problem folders the error goes away.
Sometimes I can access folder withe create date 1794 but if I go to far down in the subfolders structer I get the error.

But I am almost sure now what the problem are and it is the create/modify date. Need to figure out how to correct the dates.

To Creat,

I have tried that tool and also another tool, the problem is many of the folder that have the strange dates is folder with files that XP load at startup. So what I need is a tool where I can tell the tool the files/folders should change the create date to yyyy-mm-dd and do it before anything else is loaded.

If anybody knows about that type tool, tell me.

lole, I could verify that those dates are the source of error 5. The next BETA will not crash but show "<invalid date>" in place of the date. At least you can use Trackerv3 then :D

EDIT: I could do a bit better in the meantime: instead of "<invalid date>" I can now show the invalid date without crash, like this:
* 17790-05-28 03:11:47 (you can see the data, but they are clearly marked as invalid, resp. as highly improbable  )

I don't but there might well be...

Hi,

I started XP in SafeMode and used I tool I downloaded from the net to change almost all folders with wrong dates. There are still few that I could not change because they where in use or a file in the folder.

And for all of you that come with inputs.
Thanks, :D

Looking forward to the next beta, to test.

Thanks again,
Lars-Olof

There is a program called Unlocker http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ that may enable you to break the lock that Windows has on the file. This might allow you to change the time-stamp of the files. I've never tried it so I don't give any guarantee it will work!

That will be perfect. Normally you should not have this type of strange dates, but your solution will give the user a warning that something has happend, that should not happen.

Gandolf:
Thanks for the link. I hope that I do not need to use it.
