That does look pretty nice to me, i mean one cant miss it. One other way i can think of is to reduce the saturation/brightness of the inactive pane a tiny bit. I have seen this behavior in bblean shell i think.

Interesting idea, the colour would need to be customisable or automatically contrast with the background colour to accommodate different colour schemes.

I still prefer the pane header since so much information can be displayed in it.

Look at T.C. - the pane header displays the path, the filter, is used as the address bar, has breadcrumbs and shows the active / inactive pane. You can't get much more out of one screen line!!

I would see it added to the Tab Headers color in Config or similar, as trying to make it auto-adjust might create some oddball colors.

Of course XY is male - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XY_sex-det ... ion_system.

Which makes me think of an alternative product XXplorer! Maybe even the better name for the dual pane edition... or a file manager with women-oriented features. But what would that be? Dump your sexist ideas now...

Not to talk about XXXplorer which probably really could make me rich...

(Why is this in the Bugs thread?)

(anyway)

I like the Eclipse look, but I'm not sure yet whether it fits XY. Wait until I've added those header breadcrumbs with customizable colors for active/inactive -- I think that should suffice...

don't know if anyone has mentioned this already.

Pressing tab should ideally switch between the two panes. Isn't it?

It would be so easy and convenient to say copy a file/folder from one pane, press tab and now that I am in the other pane I can simply paste.

Please make this change. This is how xplorer2 and Free commander works.

Yes, it has...in other threads...but also this falls into the "Wish" area instead of a "Bug" as it works as intended right now, though that may not be what you/others desire.

And this should be customizable already on your sys via CKS, so...

I am in CKS window and trying to locate the category in which I can set Tab key to switch panes. Can you please assist?

Originally I placed this under Bug Reports, but it seems just as good or better to place it here...

Dual Pane needs as of Build 401....

a. For much easier use....

Icons plus background code needed that:

- Show two panes side by side (sometimes called show two horiz pane)
- Show two panes top and bottom (sometimes called show two vert pane)

Since dual-pane is VIP to many users, those two icons should be enabled and displayed by default when the program opens originally, and of course from that point on, the end-user can set-up the system their way, electing to keep the dual-pane icons or not, etc.

b. The Dual Pane option must be easier to locate and enable.

The use of the icons as above is the user-easiest and most direct way...but the textual menu system has to have Dual Pane almost in more than one drop-down menu, as Dual Pane could be needed in more than one circumstance.

c. Vital:

Almost any right-click then shows pop-up menu, the same options as under "icons needed that:" have to be present. Right-click is so intuitive, that for one or two Dual Pane options to not appear, especially where they would be useful, makes things harder for users to visualize and use.

Nearly everyone right clicks to see options, say on a particular drive or tab display, and having the two most used Dual Pane options right there is very obvious to users and is somewhat common to other dual-pane apps -- almost expected to be there, etc.

Initial DP efforts looking good, though...a VERY good file manager getting even better.

Joe

I think posts like one above this one and this thread: http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3634 shouldn't really be in the bug section, because they are more synonymous with the type of posts that are in the Wishes section. It's just that if we are to have a single thread for little bugs then it should be bugs that are mentioned in it

Go to the category "Window" in CKS, click on Dual pane and assign the shortcut you need.
By the way, the CKS categories are exactly similar to the menu structure in XY (with the exception of category of "Miscellaneous"), so its easier to locate something in the menu first and then follow same route in CKS | Categories. Hope that helps.

Thanks for your reply but I am asking about setting a keyboard shortcut to switch from one pane to the opposite pane. Not to toggle between single and dual pane display.

Is it possible to set this keyboard shortuct through CKS?

Until today, I was waaaaaaaaay behind in my updates  so now running both my existing vers and newest together (via diff folders) so I can compare the differences...

Because of being behind, some DP bugs/wishes may not have made as much sense as they should have, but I'm having an oddity that I don't recall seeing here (or I may have missed it):

I have Search Results tab, plus two normal tabs in left pane...when I move pane splitter all to the max leftmost, only the leftmost two tabs remain visible, and the others are hidden...is this intended?

Addendum:
Was there a change in the minimum size of list/max size of IP? Because I can't get the IP to be as big (and detail as small) as I need to now...I am used to having only two lines of detail showing but now the min I can get is about 5.5...is this due to the space needed for horizontal panes? If so, then when in vertical mode, it should be a different value.

Addendum 2:When scrunching screen horizontally with DP active, the DP split keeps jumping around left-right just a bit and isn't really stationary as I would think it would be.

I noticed that the other day but I didn't have time to post anything. I would like to see the height back as it was if the panes are vertical or if a single pane. Obviously, the info panel needs to be limited to a lower height if the panes are horizontal.

The info panel also doesn't get any higher if the address bar is turned off - the list simply gets higher.
j_c_hallgren wrote:When scrunching screen horizontally with DP active, the DP split keeps jumping around left-right just a bit and isn't really stationary as I would think it would be.
I've seen something that might be related. Resizing XY's window, then returning it to it's original size the vertical split sometimes does not return to it's original position. It only occurs occasionally and I can't pin it down to anything, it looks as if the position calculation might have a glitch under certain values of width / position.
I think I can see what might be happening. Switching to a larger window size (I use an AHK script to re-size a window) the window re-sizes then the splitter (vertical) jumps briefly between two positions as if there is a delay in calculating the new position. Does that make sense??

Yes, I've got the jumping effect now - moving the left side of the window, right side does not seem to have an effect.

Just switched from vertical split - split just right of centre to horizontal split. Split is now at the very top and doesn't show even one line in the list. Window size is 570 x 630, split position doesn't matter. Increased the window width and the splitter suddenly jumps to near mid position.
This appears to be completely reproducible even with different window sizes. And I've just got the splitter to move to the incorrect position by changing the window size.
