I have no idea either. One of my 32 bit xp machines is very snappy with the same config. But my 64bit desktop(one with vpn connection) is so sluggish during startup. It is so bad that I have problem with calling it terrible.

Can you try a v8.00 (get it from the freezer) pointing to the same app data path (=configuration)?

It would help if you did the above test. Thanks!
