Re: Auto Rebuild tree option
Whenever the event of expandind a node other than the current one occurs, either by using the go-to, favorite folders, favorite files, ... if ATO is set to On, all the others nodes should be collapsed automatically. I would like to reproduce the behaviour of Windows Explorer on XP, but do not have the OS to check it

Re: Auto Rebuild tree option
I think it should set in under either of the following 2 conditions:admin wrote:I ask all who actually use that functionality (Automatic Tree Optimization): under what exact conditions ATO should set in?
1) Another tree node is expanded without "mother-folder" being selected (not present now)
b) Another tree node is selected and then expanded (current functionality).
P.S. It would also be great if collapsing the current node would expand the previous node (through a tweak most likely)...

Re: Auto Rebuild tree option
So sub-nodes of the current node would collapse when I expand any other node? Really?kiku wrote:Whenever the event of expandind a node other than the current one occurs, either by using the go-to, favorite folders, favorite files, ... if ATO is set to On, all the others nodes should be collapsed automatically. Re: Auto Rebuild tree option
Are you really using this functionality and expect 1) to happen? I would find this behavior very disturbing. I would never like the subfolders of my current folder auto-collapsed.ivan wrote:I think it should set in under either of the following 2 conditions:admin wrote:I ask all who actually use that functionality (Automatic Tree Optimization): under what exact conditions ATO should set in?

Yes, I am really using this functionality and, in my mind, whenever another node gets expanded the previous one stops being current and the newly expanded one becomes current, so the previous one should collapse.admin wrote:Are you really using this functionality and expect 1) to happen? Re: Auto Rebuild tree option
But that's not true. By clicking the +-icon you can expand nodes without making them current.ivan wrote:Yes, I am really using this functionality and, in my mind, whenever another node gets expanded the previous one stops being current and the newly expanded one becomes current, so the previous one should collapse.admin wrote:Are you really using this functionality and expect 1) to happen? Re: Auto Rebuild tree option
Can you replicate Windows Explorer on XP behaviour, that only nodes expanded by selecting them gets collapsed when you navigate to a different node?
I.e. when you navigate to a node and you actually get to see it's contents, collapse previous nodes.

I think it's the standard behaviour, auto-collapse other nodes

I think you're looking for Simple Folder View, Don: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=282002
I'm not sure what the default setting for this is, but it was off here (XP SP2).

Re: Auto Rebuild tree option
As far as I'm personally concerned, if I expand another tree node then the previous one is no longer current. However, XY's current implementation differs between "expand first, select after" and "select first, expand after" and there shouldn't be any discrepancy since the outcome is exactly the same - another tree node is both selected and expanded. This means that order shouldn't make a difference and since you can't select and expand with one click of a mouse then it'd be sensible (maybe not by default, but through a tweak) to collapse upon expanding without having to select.admin wrote:But that's not true. Re: Auto Rebuild tree option
I tried it but still no auto-collapse. So, how can I configure Explorer to auto-collapse nodes??TheQwerty wrote:I think you're looking for Simple Folder View, Don: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=282002

Re: Auto Rebuild tree option
Tools - Folder Options - View
If you check "Display simple folder view in Explorer's Folders list" it should collapse the previous node when you browse a diferent folder
