Re: Renaming Folder with RenameItem - Access Denied

Yup, its working great with CD win10 and I been mass renaming ton of files with great success. Here is an update to the mask that incorporates all the newer Web related files I been getting. The ordering of items to be renamed is very important or unintended results that are harder to correct occurs. Like replacing "AB" and "ABC" with a space or something else. In this order, if "ABC" is found first, then the result is "c" which is not what is intended. So it's mindful to order "ABC" and "AB" in this way so all occurrences of "ABC" are dealt with before searching for all occurrences of "AB".

Here's an update of the mask so it's easy to understand how ordering is implemented effectively with the web related additions I made. And each separate line of masks is executed individually, so that the renaming of the later items doesn't interfere with the renaming of the former items. People may combine all lines into one gigantic renaming task, but I never tempted fate like that. I was happy to run 7 passes of renaming on each drive and monitored the results as it occurred.

Turn wordwrap off on everything so invisible characters are not injected. To be clear, this is 7 passes. The first 4 lines are done individually. The years lines are all done all at once as task number 5. There's no benefit to breaking them up into more than one task. The parenthesis is separate task number 6, and then on directories only, the entire string from " bluray" to "DC" is done all at once as task number 7. Nothing is done case sensitive, despite my mask having mixed case. But you could make things case sensitive, but you would have to experiment with the switches that would need to be added.

Also, I never ran this starting from the root directory of the drive. Because I in no way wanted software related items renamed. That would likely be bad juju. This renaming is done on media related directories and files only, and this script relys on YOU to target only those directories and files. So don't be renaming drive "C" from the root with this script, or you will no longer have a working operating system, hah.

After all that, my drives are cleaned up and paths are greatly shortened, with tons of easier to read uniformity.
