How about the script engine, especially the regex support? Will the latter be updated to something more modern as well?

Forgotten: kudos to jupe for his gorgeous finding. :appl:

Can't say. Currently it's in the hand of MS and probably doomed: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/blo ... ps/4148301

Except AI, Cloud and Gaming "everything" in Microsoft's hands appears to be doomed right now.

I am now running Win11 and have been playing around with File Explorer. Man, I'm shocked. I skip the rant and get right to the bottom line: CRAP.

LOL. Win11 is also a bit underwhelming. I had to find, download and install special software to make my wheel button double click. Feels like the 90s.

Honest, I might have teared up and giggled a bit at reading this

I don't follow sports teams or a particular band, but when it comes to software, I've been known to get giddy.

I've gifted licenses to a number of friends over the years, while I can't say everyone understands the gift, those that do haven't gone back.

2025 just got a whole lot more exciting

Looks like an XY Power User's Reunion...

An amazing job so far Don, and an awesome anouncement for the next level!
This will be such a milestone. Thanks for such dedication (and some attendant thick skin :titter: ) over the years... :appl:

In Win11, Explorer has become an even bigger monopolist. every time you start or restart Explorer, 2000+ services and event observers are launched, waiting for keys from the user, information about created files and folders from the system, writing a ton of logs and telemetry, and God knows what else they doing in the background.

   :appl:  Oh, people, please have mercy. I got rather old with XYplorer. Already 8 months in pension. Now almost got heart attack   stumbling by chance upon these news in a bug thread... Hello old guys, doyens of XYplorer - nice to meet you here again. And jupe, may the force be with you! :ninja: :ugeek:

Maybe the creation of a 32bit beta would be a good first step, that would perhaps bring some slight positive aspects even to the exe(s) based on the (almost) current voodoo code. Then freeze 32 and begin a new era of cleaned and streamlined 64 code. Just thinking... :ugeek:

But hey Don, if and when you make an Android version some day, are you going to buy X afterwords, just for fun? ;)

Haha, great news!
Even if XYplorer is already fast and efficient...

In any case, there will be one major benefit:

  • Last but not least: Using a modern living language like twinBASIC will make development even faster and much easier. I can tell you: Writing this application in VB6 (dead since 1998) was a black art. I often felt like a voodoo programmer.
it'll give the Voodoo Master all the more time to develop new features!

So good luck (and craft) with the conversion, Don 8)
