I think it's realistic that "won't happen" comes across as grumpy and rude.

But I can also do grumpy: If you want a second tree, open a second instance :)

Sorry for the late reply, and thank you for your answer! This looks good and is almost what I want (bit cumbersome to set up, but does work for me).

It would be great if an option could be added to this such that not only the icon, but also the label of the custom button is shown in the toolbar. The reason is that I will have multiple such buttons and while I do have some recognizable icons for some of them, this is not the case for all, such that it would be great to have the name next to as well (pretty please? :-)).

I currently use "Show Button Captions", but this applies to ALL buttons (plus it has the text below the icons) so it's not ideal.

Thanks!

Not possible, but you can see the individual name of each button in the tooltip.

Can you provide some concept art? What alternative solutions would be acceptable? Will you accept an XY-independent option that will provide what you want?

While having some buttons With captions and most Without is impossible(for proper reasons), check out "User Button Labels" feature in Help file, that allows to put a short label in place of usual custom button icon. This doesn't require all other buttons to have captions enabled.
