There is some confusion here. It dawns on me that all this is not about the Hover Box but about MDBU. Is that correct?

It is about being able to display the 256 and the 675 Thumbnails correctly without the large Sumatra yellow PDF logo "indicating an error in the XY display screen." I have no other problem with the PDFs. Please see attached
In the previous screens I have attempted to show that I have all the software installed correctly to assist you making any changes that you may deem fit for this situation.
Some here would rather not see my large HI-RES pictures that I have posted to show what it is that I am running on my end AND HOPEFULLY FIND SOME SIMPLE DUMB ERROR preventing XY full glory display.
Would it be possible for XY to use the available image in the hover box - that works every time? Perhaps do without, other outside software, that apparently may no be available per one gentleman.

Hm. Explain in one sentence what you think is a bug. What happens when you do what, and would should happen instead?

So what started as a fractional PDF preview is now missing thumbnails. Well, anyway, try updating the thumbnails: View | Caches | Refresh Thumbnails.

So now we learned that the caches refresh is not only for JPGs through this scenic route.
The ratio has been reversed roughly, per this one folder, but remains way out of what XY the very fine program deserves IMHO.
Those files with the large yellow icon are all perfectly good PDF files obtained from different sources.
It is my hope that some day this will surface on your priority list.

What happens on MDBU?
What happens on Hover Box?
What happens on Preview Pane?
Do they show thumbnails in File Explorer?

Attached please see the output by the m$ Explorer. I instantly like the text layout - Would XY be able to reduce the font size automatically as FE does for the 256 thumbnails? Any secret settings that does this.
As for the other three happenings - I would need to look up your definitions - I'm really just a user.

Well, that should tell us enough about the PDF question: It's not an XY problem, it's a thumbnail handler problem.

Font size can be changed by Ctrl+Wheel over the list.

Does not work for me. What list? Does it require special settings?

File Explorer also switched to multi line. Is there a way to do that in XY?

Does anyone know of a program that will display thumbnails of all valid PDFs?

Grab the latest beta and go to Configuration | Fonts. There are two things you might be interested in:

Configuration | Colors and Styles | Fonts | Enable zoom by Ctrl+mouse wheel
Configuration | Colors and Styles | Fonts | Thumbnail captions relative font size (%)

I appreciate the efforts - but I am not getting what we intended -

The m$ explorer is fully automated etc. sorry
