Why? It's irrelevant to the user.

While user can't influence what is live filtered in what way, it's still good to know the details, especially for geek users who do care.
For example after i got to know that icons on tabs cause constant re-read of those icon files, i use only coloured tabs.(BTW that's why i still hope-waiting for proper-full base64 icons implementation)

You are exceptionally obsessed with disk I/O, but you tend to forget that the Windows I/O cache shields you from most real I/O operations. You can relax a bit more.

Well, probably i am. After several times losing data on all kinds of storages, i know backup is not a panacea and the only other way to lessen chance of sudden storage death - less hardware wear. Windows prefetch is not a cure too, cause it still uses hardware and mainly works about faster launch, not less I/O actually. Big numbers matter and some trivial yet constant numerous everyday operation may decide if your hdd dies in couple months or live for another year.
Yet i "was unlucky" to get acquainted with Assembler in old university times, so for me "optimisations" are not only "useful thing", but a mark of programmers skill. That's how i picked XY initially = not based on some "no-brainer platform", fully hand-written and constant optimisations.(when i got to know you're german, it only became more natural, dah stereotypes)

The key to backup is redundancy. At least three, on different types of media, in different locations (not in the same building).

A handwritten version on papyrus is the non-plus-ultra, but it takes time.
