Hello everyone,

I'm sorry if I'm just getting in touch now. Everything worked for a while after I deleted everything under AppData. Now I have installed the current version 26.10.0100 and xyplorer crashes when starting and I have to wait forever until it can be used normally. FYI I used ShellExView to disable the shell entries. I thought that was the problem so I activated it again. The problem still exists. Even a reinstallation and deleting the registry entries didn't help.

Anyone have an idea?

By "crashes when starting" you mean it takes 1.879 seconds to start?

No not. XYplorer starts and freezes. And then it takes what feels like minutes for the program to run. I gave you the ini. file sent to the email you gave me.

Nobody an idea?

Amazing, I just turned off my QNAP NAS because I had a feeling like that. And lo and behold, XYplorer starts without freezing.

Funnily enough, it only crashes when I click on the network folders. They don't work because the NAS is turned off. A few seconds later it says that the network path is not available. Logical.

Edit: Okay, XYplorer freezes when I click on "This PC". This happens every time now. To be honest, I'm really annoyed. XYplorer now always freezes for a moment when I change folders in the left tab.

Just to say I'm also getting a lot of freezes and hanging in the most recent update 26.10.0200 (or possibly from one or 2 updates before that). I'll have to read through this thread and try some of the suggestions but it's hanging almost daily on me and never used to. Will report back when I've tried some suggestions.

If only you would at least get feedback. Even if the gentlemen have no idea. But at least that way I would know where I stand.......

If you want to get me interested again, start by showing me load time statistics that are consistent with what you are saying.

Pretty arrogant. It doesn't have much to do with time. It starts very quickly and then the program freezes. Namely as soon as you change the folder.

Above all, what does it mean “If I should care again?” Is this how you treat paying customers?

I didn't expect much. At least you could have given feedback even if you don't have a solution. And I see I'm not the only one having problems. Think about it.

Okay, I think we can close this topic. Lack of substance.

I tried checking through some of the suggestions, for example:

NoNetworkOnStartup=1

But I already had that value in my .ini file.

I think I may have narrowed it down to a conflict with my VPN (I use Private Internet Access). When I turn the VPN off the delays and hanging in XY seems to have stopped (I think...)

I've already setup Split Tunnelling in the VPN and added XY to my list of apps to bypass the VPN but it doesn't seem to help. So for now I think I have to completely turn off my VPN if I'm using XY. This only seems to have become an issue very recently. Is there anything in the last few updates that could be causing this?

Also the OP might want to try turning off their VPN (if they're using one) to see if it helps.

@tbm: When? (lot of freezes and hanging)

Hard to say exactly but I think probably within the last week or 10 days. At first I thought it might be related to a problem I had ages ago with mapped network drives as the symptoms were similar (hanging when first opening XY):

viewtopic.php?t=24103

But I think this one seems more likely to be VPN related. XY was in the middle of hanging after launching and I tried turning off my VPN. As soon as I did, XY immediately came to life. The VPN has been installed for a couple of years though and not seen any conflicts before.

I have added XY to the Split Tunnelling list in the VPN so it should be bypassing any VPN rules but maybe there's something else being accessed between them (some kind of network service)?

Sorry, these are just vague guesses but XY is always pretty rock solid so it's unusual for it to ever hang on me. Of course it could well be the fault of the VPN or something else so I'm not blaming XY, just trying to get to the root of what's causing it!

No, I meant: When doing what? What are you doing when XY starts to hang?

Literally just launching it. For example I just rebooted Windows and first thing I did was to launch XY. It hung with spinning icon so after about 15 seconds I turned off my VPN and it immediately came back to life. After that first launch it looks like XY is OK, even if I turn the VPN back on.

I *think* (haven't tested extensively yet) that XY only hangs the first time I try to launch it after rebooting. Whether it's within the first few minutes after rebooting or an hour later, the first time XY runs it seems to need the VPN disabled. Once I disable the VPN once it comes back to life and all is OK again until next boot.

I'll test it a bit more and see if I can see anything else. As I say, I can't think of anything else that's changed recently and XY has never had a problem in conjunction with the VPN before.
