This is not possible. Check your settings. Reboot Windows. Drink more coffee. Drink less beer.

What should I check my settings for? Honestly, I don't even recall when I had the last beer. (I think I sipped a bit of Whisky, but that's > 2wks, so there's no blood left in my alcohol. Or vice-versa. ;) )
So, I had two strong Espressi, rebooted windows, launched XY, told it that it's behavior was not possible and searched again. Still no highlight.
(If you want a screen share or any files from my PC, lemme know...)

Can you recreate this situation with a fresh instance?

Duh, that was interesting!
I did ::fresh, enabled FRS, searched, cursored through results - and noticed that FRS wasn't enabled any more! (I repeated this several times to be certain about the initial activation of it - and yes, it was selected and the toggle was gone when I checked!) Anyway, I re-enabled it and sure enough, it worked (with the initial layout). So I went ahead, loaded my column config and it still worked!

So I went back to my original session and checked: yup, FRS wan't set - so I've selected it and life was good again :)

So the issue is FRS not being carried over into SearchResults!

Search results have their own independent list styles.

Hmm, so probably I can preset them somewhere? (Didn't find where)

I tried to get my Search Results into "Search Results tab (locked)" and then changed that to have FRS and use my column layout - but on the next search the layout was reset (FRS survived, though).

Simply set the styles in the search results. They should stick.
