I agree. I wish there was a way I could query XYplorer to say: where are you getting (or not able to get) the icon from for this folder on this system.

Everything is working as expected for all other folders (even those with other customized icons). It's just this one (the OneDrive folder) that XYplorer is unable to retrieve the icon for no matter what I do.

Could it be a custom file icon?

Just in case it helps, I ran the debug command I found in another thread.

sysicons "D:\OneDrive", 1, 1;

Running it on a PC where the OneDrive folder icon displays correctly, I get this:
sysimage-working.png
And running it on the problem PC where XYplorer can't display the folder icon, I get this:
sysimage-problem.png

I really haven't tried to do anything clever or fancy. I'm just trying to use OneDrive and have it's default, normal, uncustomized, folder icon displayed.

Wow, extreme. :shock: I couldn't even make that on purpose.

Try this:

Code: Select all

exist "D:\OneDrive";

Sorry, I entered the wrong path on the non-working PC. When comparing to the working PC, I was using the same path on both. :oops:

Let me try again. Give me a minute...

I had forgotten to change the 'D' to a 'T' when running the scripts on the non-working PC, as the OneDrive location is on a different drive. Sorry again for the confusion. :oops:

Anyway, the folder does exist, and here is the sysicons script run on the correct location now:

Looks okay. And you are sure that custom file icons are turned off? (Configuration | General | Refresh, Icons, History | Icons | Enable custom file icons)

Aha! :appl:

That option was enabled on both PCs, but on this non-working one I actually had an entry in XYplorer's Custom File Icons list, which was pointing to a location in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\OneDrive, whereas OneDrive's executable for me happens to be in 'C:\Program Files\OneDrive'. I have no memory of ever creating that entry -- I must have done that years ago for some reason!

Yay, problem solved. :beer:
