So I thought I had mention this before, but I guess not...

I think it'd be cool to allow the use of a "new syntax" for favorites, so you can use Captions. Because while for locations it may not really be required, we all know that Favorites can be much more than just locations (eg. Name Searches, VF, or even Scripts!)

But then it gets a very ugly/unpractical menu, and for scripts it's really not usable like that (IMO)

So to allow a syntax like: [caption>]location would allow us to do things like:

Code: Select all

Search for Archives>?*.rar;*.zip
Some cool stuff>::command1; command2...

Yes, but I'm not sure about the syntax. Using [caption>]location might lead to ambiguous cases. I'd rather do "caption" location .

Sure, I went for that one copying the file associations or elsewhere, but this one à la Script File (menu caption) works just as good (if not better).

For example a favorite
::copytext >C:\

It could be
(a) caption="::copytext ", location = "C:"
(b) the script ::copytext >C:\

Using quotes instead should be dead-sure.

I just tried it and it's breath-taking. Thank you, Don.

One thing I noticed: If I add an caption to a favorite folder the folder icon changes from the "favorite folders" one to the normal one.

In View > Tree Style you can check "Mark Favorites (Icon)" and "Mark Favorites (Bold)". Both visual indicators are gone if I add a caption to a Favorite Folder.
I hope I was clear enough now. :wink:

Yeah, a few of my favorites have now lost their bold status, and I do miss it.
Other than that, really cool thing! :D
