After all, you want to just copy, then use "Copy Here" In case of collision, say "no" to overwrite and choose which suffix you want ot use...

I know this one wasn't for me, but wouldn't you find it illogical otherwise ? As you said, all features do it, and this one is grouped with the others, goes by the same "name structure", it only makes sense to me that the natural & expected way would be to always have a number...
(and what about two or more files, from different locations, with the same name (eg. index.htm) all copied with suffix number to the same destination. You'd expect 1, 2, 3 and get 1, 2 and no number. Which is the first, the second, and the third ? Why didn't XY do what it was asked to ? Why am I ranting about this so much ??!
