That is a global setting, which will affect all folders, and that's something I absolutey do not want!

Interesting. Maybe you shouldn't have mentioned several times that you want folders on top but that you refuse to set a global option to achieve that.
You are free to create a custom column that allows you to sort by folders first and then files by date but let me guess, that's also something you don't want?

Most definitely not, as I would have to set it up, and as most of the sub-directories in these specially sorted folders are the result of WinRAR extracts and, as a result, only temporary.
