Jeff,

I made some experiments with Explorer, and it looks like when you opt for "Hide system files" (translated from German) then it will hide files/folders that (1) are SYSTEM And HIDDEN, or (2) that have the *.sys extension. This might be not the complete conditions, but it would explain why your My-Folders were still shown in Explorer (because they are SYSTEM, but Not Hidden) but not in XY (where being SYSTEM alone is enough to be hidden when Show System Files is off).

I could only add a new button/function that mimics Explorer's behavior. But I'm not sure whether I should do this. Nobody ever asked for it. I think most people using XY always show all files anyway. I personally hide the HIDDEN files most of the time, but never the SYSTEM files.

If you see limited usefulness, and no one has asked for it before, then I don't think you should make the change.

I can work with XY as it is now, because I am convinced that removing the system attribute for these folders is not harmful.

It also keeps them from being colored in case you use color coding.

In my case, I color code system items red, but I would not like to see the My Pictures folder in red...

I use color coding, too. Blue for folders, red for system. I don't like to see red in my lists or in the tree! Sometimes I show system files temporarily, but I usually prefer them to not be shown. If I see red, it reminds me to turn off the display of system files and folders.

Colorizing items in the list is a great feature, BTW!
